Vehicle Detail
1972 1210 Heavy Duty "Camper Special" 3/4 Ton Pick-Up Truck Original Keys included with extras & keys to side boxes & locking fuel tanks Factory 8 lug wheels for Extra duty 8200 GVWR suspension and 4.10 geared rear-end Factory Dual Fuel Tanks 392 4 barrel w/ a Dual Exhaust system, as was original on the build sheet from the factory This truck was bought in June of 1972 and garage kept for 40 years by the original owners in Washington State, until they finally let it go to us here in Missouri just this past August of 2012 It is an original classic example of the no longer made IH pickup trucks. After extensively going over & crawling under this truck we could not seem to find any rust through,(floorboards are solid, cowls are fine, underneath still has factory black sealant) a typical N.W.vehicle? We were told it was left in the garage & not used from Oct. thru April each year so to keep out of inclement weather. Spoiled?...yes,slightly! Original paint, carpet, seat, door panels, headliner and glass are in very nice shape (no cracks in glass) including the perfect condition of the windshield rubber gasket and chrome trim. It appears the vent windows were not hardly ever used, as they still open and close tightly. Windows all operate (Including rear slider) and doors close tightly. No leaks present. All gauges are in working order (including both factory fuel tanks) and all lights operate as they should. Power steering, power brakes. Slider cab rear window option. Originally equipped Dual Large IHC mirrors. Original paperwork that came with it includes dealer signed - Owner Service Policy, Radio manual, Build Sheet. All over and under this truck is extremely clean for 40 years, as can be observed in the pictures...No Bondo anywhere To drive this, is a true pleasure. It accelerates strong and smooth and the shifting of the gears in the transmission is, to say the least, firm & as tight as I would expect as new. It stops on a dime and steers with little effort. The 8 foot bed and tailgate do not appear to have gotten much use and are therefor in very nice condition. The paint has a few scratches and there are a few small dents here and there but minimal in size, as I would expect, but for this age, really few. Some neat extras will come to you with the purchase of this truck, Such as....A Spare tire + 2 spare 8 lug wheels with studded & mounted, snow/mud grip tires that don't appear to have been much used if at all. A custom built "Front frame mount" spare tire carrier. 2- Extra large camper mirrors. An "original and factory built copper" extra 2 core radiator. Lastly, a used spare A/C compressor All of the tires have deep tread and do not show age cracks. We spent a long month, taking our time and going through both the entire drive train and engine area. So in our venture, we replaced all fluids with fresh... to include transmission & filter, engine & filter, rear differential, power steering, radiator, windshield washer and lastly, brakes were gone through and are sporting fresh hardware, shoes etc. although the front shoes and cylinders were later purchased and are sitting in the lower, left locking cargo box below the bed, ready for installation when needed. All rubber components that could be found to need replacement were....such as belts for alternator, power steering and air condition compressor. Radiator, heater, and gasoline hoses with filters at each tank...then bypassed the Cam type factory fuel pump, (which by the way, was working fine) and ran the lines directly through a new electric fuel pump which has a "red light toggle switch" at the lower left of the steering column below the central dash. A full engine tune_up included plugs, plug wires, points, condenser, rotor and cap. If we forgot any other minor issues we will apologize, as this was enough, we felt, to freshen this fine little truck up for someone to take it from here & really enjoy it now. There are 4 (four) things that are imperfect, as follows: ................... 1- The AM radio has no sound and the antenna is Missing the mast - (no antenna=no sound?).... as the Radio powers on and lights up otherwise. 2- The automatic choke is missing 1 of the 2 wires to it...but this engine starts quickly anyway, (with some light "feather footing" it until warmed up...about 3 minutes) 3- The radiator has a seam that appears to be seeping an ever so slight trickle (right below where cap is) but does not yet require any additional Anti-freeze- but then again, you will have the radiator that is coming along with the purchase, to recore and/or replace with. 4- At a cost of $194.00, we had a local station service the A/C in October last year and air blew cold. Now it is not so cold after setting through the winter.... (Leak I guess)...so.... This is all that would keep this from being what we would call, "TurnKey" perfect. This is one strong and solid original and we hope the high bidder to win this auction, will agree and realize a rare find in this vehicle. You should feel comfortable driving it home Please know that, even though my father and I spent all the time & money on this as we did, we can not possibly warrant any part of this truck to the buyer & therefore it will be transferred without guarantee of any kind, "as is", with a clean and clear title to the winner of the auction. *If you have less than "10 feedback" rating as a buyer/purchaser with Ebay, please contact us before you bid, or you might run the risk of being removed from the bidding here, as we cannot afford to re-list this truck due to the occasional non-payer that ruins an otherwise successful auction. Besides, it is just not fair or kind to all of the bidders involved. Look over all of the pictures and please feel welcome to contact us with any questions that you might have that we can be of help with. There is always a chance that something has been overlooked, so please know that we have brought everything that we are aware of, to this listing,in an honest effort. We will NOT pull this auction EARLY due to local buyers, in fairness to those bidding and THERE WILL BE NO RESERVE SET, SO BID WITH ALL YOU HAVE!
