Vehicle Detail
· We are selling our family “Ford Shoebox” project, lovingly dubbed “Patina”. A death in the family means we must turn our attention to other things right now, and this car should not be left sitting unfinished. That’s right a BLACK PLATE CALIFORNIA ORIGINAL SHOEBOX ROLLING PROJECT. And, our dear old grizzled local mechanic is ill and cannot help us finish it. Since we are not experienced mechanics, he has done most of the work, and we had to remove it from his place and bring it home. We drove it home…she isn’t dialed in, but we made it. Honesty requires us to suggest that we all think of it as not a running vehicle. The work it mainly needs before being a “running, driving car” is the shift and clutch linkages needs work. It is now parked in our driveway. As you can see, we are sort of a Ford family these days, and the TBird has been our father’s daily driver for the past 12 years. Do the cars look alike? What a difference 10 years makes… As with other project cars, the person who benefits financially is the person who completes the project. We ourselves realize that we will probably recoup only half of what we have invested so far…. if that!!!! GRRRRR. It was a dream project for us (still half is), but as the old story goes, now it can be yours. The car is truly ready for YOU to finish it. We have many receipts for the work that has been done, and the list is extensive! ----FORD 302 installed using “BUTCHS COOL STUFF” parts; a popular shoebox modifying company that builds quality stuff. No hack jobs done here where half the fire wall is missing. Just a straight clean installation done by channeling the cross member and then re-welding it and reinforcing it for strength. ----THE TOPLOADER T4 4 SPEED –Before I purchased it I had it all taken apart and shown to me, she was clean as a whistle. No teeth even chipped NO WEAR WHATSOEVER. Look like she had just been rebuilt. -----THE 302 WORK HORSE ENGINE was rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago and installed in another hot rod that was hit in the rear, and we were lucky enough to buy the engine off a good friend in the valley. The motor is complete and runs with a MILD CAM, AN EDLEBROCK INTAKE, AND 650CFM EDLEBROCK AUTOMATIC CHOKE CARB. Then after we got it off my buddy, and he had said it had been sitting for awhile, we completely ripped the motor down to a short block and rebuilt it with completely new gaskets, and new paint as you can see ;) The motor needs to be dialed in by a good tuner. The motor can be seen in the video we refer to below. ---- TOPLOADER TRANSMISSION which after running the vin numbers we verified it came from a 1970 BOSS MUSTANG! (How Cool!). This car came off the assembly line in 1951 with a flathead V-8, and with a two-speed Ford-o-matic. On our TOPLOADER we had a new clutch set up was installed. Right now the place where our old mechanic stopped his work was on the transmission linkage and adjusting up the clutch so that’s a finicky area of the car. ----BRAND New Brakes ALL THE WAY AROUND including, cylinders front and rear, brake shoes front and rear, machined drums all around and wheel bearings replaced. ----BRAND New MONROE Front shocks installed ----BRAND New MAC’S AUTOPARTS New STEEL Gas tank with NEW gas sending unit. ----BRAND New 4 ROW RECORDED ORIGINAL Radiator, to keep it cool with all that extra HP! I even had my radiator guy weld a steel coin plug on one side to accommodate the new engine. The heater and core are there, with all new hosing, but the heater has been bypassed for now because there may be a leak. ----BRAND NEW AUTO METER Tachometer, and Row of Water temp, oil pressure, and voltmeter ----BRAND NEW "Painless" brand WIRING HARNESS (All hooked up, all wires work INCLUDING interior, -Door Jamb Switches- Dash Lighting Etc!) ---BRAND NEW COMPLETE 3/4” EXHAUST WITH H PIPE system [large bore pipes], with the classic sounding and shiny chrome tips. She sounds real tough. ----BRAND NEW HURST PERFORMANCE SHIFTER! WITH ALL NEW SHIFTER LINKAGE, although it has been modified, and according to our old geezer of a mechanic this linkage will require further major adjustment. ----BRAND NEW LOKAR BLACK ON BLACK GAS PEDAL to make sure the whole mechanism was safe and sound. ----BRAND NEW SEAT BELTS - installed in the front and rear. If your going go fast, you’ve got to protect the goods – You hot girlfriend [boyfriend] in the passenger seat! ----Now, almost every piece of original trim, plastic piece, and trim piece you could desire is included. It has the original seats, the front just needed a blanket thrown over it thrown over then as I have done for the time being, or you can have them recovered. You can see the seats in the pictures. Even the original automatic shifter has been left in place until the end of the project. You can see the many trim parts that are included. To the best of our knowledge, EVERYTHING IS THERE. ----ALSO, as you can see, THE RUST HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS VEHICLE, IT IS STILL IN PATINA BUT THE RUST WAS CUT OUT AND REPLACED WITH METAL. You can see that the body is not perfect but very straight. To our knowledge, THERE IS NO CANCEROUS RUST! ----ALSO ARE INCLUDED A COMPLETE SET OF "BLADE" TYPE OLD SCHOOL HUBCAPS, IN NEAR MINT CONDITION! (SEE PICTURES)… REALLY RETRO AND AWESOME SHES ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out our YouTube video of the 51 ford running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvA1ZAF1ztE&feature=youtu.be Shipping and towing, or any other form of transport of the vehicle, are the sole responsibility of the buyer. The car must be towed from our home location since it is not truly drivable and has no tags, etc. We will of course do our best to cooperate.
