Vehicle Detail

1976 BMW 2002.... great "driver" quality car up for sale at a reasonable price. I recently acquired this car from a friend of a friend and don't have the time to do the minor sorting out that it deserves. The car had sat for a few years but started right up after charging the battery and replacing the old fuel! I've owned a few 2002s and will describe the car accurately to the best of my knowledge. If you are unfamiliar with the BMW 2002 I strongly recommend you spend a little time at BMW2002FAQ dot com, it's a great resource for getting to know this model. This isn't a perfect car but I feel that it's too nice to part out. I'm already involved with a 72 2002 tii and don't have the time or room for another project. The car does have some rust issues as highlighted in some of the pictures. The driver's side rocker panel is needing attention as well as a hole in the driver's side floor pan near the pedal box. Minor rust bubbling around the rear window seal area and evidence of a possible previous repair and some attention needed at the shock towers. The front brake calipers were stuck and have been replaced along with the pads, rotors, and brake lines. The pedal sometimes sticks after braking and the car may need additional brake work. Tires hold air but are dry rotted. Sunroof isn't fully shut and there are indications that a cable has stretched or seized internally. Driver's side seat belt is inoperable. Odometer is inoperable. The car could use a tune up for sure but doesn't run hot or leak oil. Clutch works smoothly and the gearbox shifts nicely. I've driven the car at highway speeds for an hour plus with no problems what so ever. I have the original window sticker, owner's manuals, and many records detailing work done to the car. In 1992 extensive work was done to the car including a full repaint with replacement of the hood, front fenders, and a motor rebuild. The engine was upgraded with a Stahl header, Schrick 292 cam, a 3 angle valve job, and a full Ansa exhaust. I have documentation and receipts totaling $14,798.78 from 1992! That's a lot of money TODAY, let alone in 1992! The shop that did the work is Bavarian Restorations in Chattanooga, TN. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the car, email works best through E Bay. If you are unfamiliar with these cars please try to have someone fmailiar with them look at it with you. It's a neat car that needs and deserves some work and will be a great family project and weekend toy. I grew up in the car hobby and prefer that this car end up with someone who wants to enjoy this fun ride. I'm offering the car with a low reserve and reasonable BuyItNow! price because I'd like to move it out of my driveway quickly. Inspections are encouraged before bidding! Zero feedback bidders please contact me before bidding or else your bid will be cancelled. I accept United States currency... cash only and will not entertain international shipping deals, third party checks, promissory notes from imaginary royal treasuries etc. I have title in hand and am ready to make the car yours. Joe
