This auction is for a ridiculously rare original Fiat Spider 2000 Turbo. The accurate VIN# is AAS00B7B8186776. Ebay and CarFax do not recognize the vin on this car, presumably because it is a foreign import.  I have read articles that estimate the total production of this car to be around 700 and the total number still around at around 100. I do not think you are too likely to wander into another chance to buy a car like this anytime soon. It was complete when I stumbled into it and was lucky enough to buy it, but unfortunately, it is just too much of a project for me and should be sold to someone who can do it justice. I am only breaking the car into two parts,car itself here and the complete turbo system in the other listing. I sincerely hope the same buyer wins them both, but with the extreme rarity of these cars and turbo systems, I feel this is the best way to maximize my return on my investment. The car only has just over 44,000 miles on it, as it has been in a barn for 23 years before I found it. The only things I am aware are missing are the top (the frame is still there) and this car has some A/C hardware but the compressor is missing and the bracket where it would mount appears broken. The man I bought it from said that the car was stolen and recovered 23 years ago and he put it in the barn intending to repair the damage done by the thieves, but never got around to it. I think the pictures tell the story of what it needs best. I took the engine out intent on rebuilding it but found the cylinder walls have grooves etched in them where the rings rested, apparently some moisture fount its way in during storage. I have decided it is time to pass the project on. Car has only 3 bad rust spots as pictured, one is in the hood where the hinge mounts, I assume the hood and hinge need replaced. The undercarriage is solid, with the original undercoating hanging on for the most part. Floorpans are solid. Carpets and sound mats are rubbish (thanks squirrels). The seats are filthy, but I could not find tears or damage, and the may well be saved with some cleaning and conditioning. Auction also includes a new windshield, which was put in the barn around the same time as the car, but still looks serviceable. Car still appears to have the original catalytic converter and exhaust. This auction DOES NOT include the turbo related components, IF YOU WANT THE COMPLETE CAR YOU MUST ALSO WIN AUCTION # 271187985702. Any parts listed or mentioned there are NOT included with this auction (the turbo, the exhaust manifold, the intake manifold, the fuel rail and injectors (turbo cars were outfitted with different injectors), the "Spider Turbo" intake plenum, the oil pan, and the turbo switches from the engine compartment). The dash cluster with the turbo boost gauge will stay with the car. All tires are garbage. Rears will hold air for days, fronts will not hold any. Original wheels were stolen. Two on  the passenger side appear to fit, the two on the drivers side look like VW wheels with the holes wallowed out. There is a spare tire on a wheel in the trunk that may be good. All wheels are steel. Car can be viewed in person by appointment in Baxter, Tennessee, and that is also where it will need picked up.
