You are bidding on a Very Nice Rock Solid Driver Quality 1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKIII with only 40156 miles on the odometer. I am selling this car for my brother in law who has owned this car since 1999. I have been the primary caretaker of this car for the past two years. The car has just received a thorough Spring Cleaning and is ready for a new owner to enjoy for years to come. The VIN is HBJ8L/34199 and the BMIHT Certificate states that this car was delivered to Baltimore in December of 1965. The car is registered with Steve Byers BJ8 registry. My brother in law purchased this vehicle in 1999 out of a heated garage where it had been stored for the previous 15 years. WHEELS and TIRES Shortly after acquisition of the car, 4 new Dayton Wire Wheels were purchased that are identical to the originals, and 4 new tires were also added. INTERIOR The seats are original black leather, steering wheel and all upholstery are original. The carpet is a replacement set from Moss Motors. All knobs and switches work correctly. My brother in law didn't like the closeness of the center console so he removed it. The console is in mint condition and the radio is original and worked perfectly when it was removed form the car. BODY This car has had one original color respray on the body. Front and rear bumpers are nice originals and all the chrome and brightwork is good. As a driver, this car has some minor rock chips, and parking lot dings. It also has a soft depression on the driver's side aluminum cowl where it appears someone leaned on the car... I judge this will be easily repaired. The paint also has some minor checking in spots. The body is Rust Free. Floorboards and frame outriggers are rust free. Serious efforts have been made to protect the car's originality with most parts being purchased from British Car Specialists and Healey Surgeons. To the best of our recollection the car has never been involved in any sort of accident. ENGINE The engine is Original and runs great and has lots of smooth power, starts easily, and does not smoke. A six blade Texas Cooler fan was installed to handle blazing hot and humid midwest summers. Like all original survivor British Cars... it leaks a little bit of everything. TRUNK The trunk of this car is completely original. The spare wheel, spare tire, leather hold down strap, trunk lining, tonneau cover props and storage bag are just as they came from the factory in 1965. OTHER INFORMATION All mechanicals (heater, wipers, lights, vents) work correctly. All wheel cylinders were rebuilt a few years ago. The car has original power train, Over Drive works well, thanks to Norman Nock who advised me on the correct setting of the throttle switch. I installed a 6-bladed Texas cooler fan years ago during one of our really-hot summers here in the Midwest. The original fan will ship with the car. SUMMARY This 58 year old Healey 3000 MKIII is in great shape and ready to enjoy this summer and for many summers to come. It is ready to enjoy form day one of your ownership. If you plan to build a high dollar restored Big Healey this is an ideal, unmolested example to start with. The convertible top is used and serviceable. The plastic rear window has yellowed and has a small crack.
