Vehicle Detail
2005 Ford GT I purchased this Ford GT on 06-19-2006 from IAAI in Anaheim, California. It had 43 miles on it, having left Simi Valley Ford on 11-06-05 and almost making it onto the I 405 south bound before ending up in the ice plant. I had been in the process of looking for a GT close to MSRP which was not happening after having many dealers Welch on their agreement to sell me one. I began to consider damaged cars. I flew and drove to many locations inspecting cars in that first year of production that did not make it far. This car came up close to home and I was immediately obsessed due to its minimal damage, color combination, new condition, and options present. I contacted the dealer who sold the car and was told the story that I will share with the new owner but to summarize, the owner of the car immediately went and bought a new replacement GT the same day and had no interest in his damaged car. A battle with his insurance company ensued, and consequently it was totaled. The car had no structural damage, no air bag deployment, and very minor damage. To be precise, I spent a total of $13,243.61 on every part, brand new from the now defunct Bonanza Ford in Sonoma, California. All of this is documented in detailed photographs, receipts, and every damaged part is still in my possession. The only sections of the car that required paint was the new nose and the driver side air scoop and drivers side of clam shell. The door and chassis were not touched nor was the rocker cover. I replaced two suspension links a shock, two wheels. One headlight, front radiators, nose panel and miscellaneous parts. For years after repair, I did not do any paint work and left body raw. It was an interesting look. The car now has 2094 miles on it, which totals about ten drives. The rest of the time it is covered and stored in my shop. Early last year, I had the paint work done at Andersons Auto Body in Petaluma, California. They did a terrific job, only painting the damaged areas and not blending into the whole paint job. This car smells new inside. No scratches. The interior is flawless with no wear, shrinkage of leather, scratches on aluminum or other common flaws on these cars that would drive me crazy. It is completely stock with no modifications. It has the cover, factory bag, charger, emergency flat repair, front license plate bracket, manual, 2 keys and remote, etc. I did have a clear bra installed for protection. This is a hard one to let go of but new toys necessitate space. Inspections are welcome, the car drives as new with no issues. A beast like no other. Interesting trades are interesting. Please contact me with questions through EBay. Cheers.
