Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1936 Cord 810 Westchester sedan. Fairly early production car with provisions for external oil and water fill in the cowl vent area. Car starts, runs, shifts, drives and stops. Currently painted deep maroon. Car sits right and looks good from 15 to 20 feet. Chrome is good, interior is good including the headliner, windows roll up and down easily, doors close properly and solidly, tires are high quality Goodyears, engine has run well for the very limited times I have taken it out. Transmission sometimes will not go into first gear from a stop and a second gear start is required. If shift into first is made just before the car comes to a complete stop, it usually goes into gear. Startix not working properly, but there is a hidden starter button under the dash to allow starts from the drivers seat. Start button on side of Startix also functions. I had the car in Stan Gillilland's shop a couple of years ago because of the Startix issues and he told me then that based on the serial number that the car had spent time in England. It shows no evidence of having ever been right-hand-drive, but the speedometer is in Kilometers and there was a funky metric water temp gauge that I have since replaced with a correct red liquid-filled temp gauge. As another clue, both headlight bulbs say 'Lucas' on them. Headlights crank up and down just fine, but the lights don't work. I was never going to drive it at night anyway, so no problem for me. Overhead radio speaker is aftermarket and ugly. The car's major flaw is that it needs to be repainted. Whichever previous owner had it painted did not prepare it properly and the paint is checked and split and lifting in some areas (mostly on top surfaces). Top of dash is also flaking indicating poor preparation. There is a small ding on the drivers front fender that I hope shows up in the pictures, but this should be an easy fix and you are going to paint anyway, right? Car is titled and registered with the body number as the serial number (English practice? Who knows?). Anyway, the body number matches the correct serial number on the stub frame as listed in both of Josh Malk's books. Serial number should be 8102006A. The body number is C-90 1142A. Engine number is FB381. Stub frame is stamped 1006. The title is clear and in my name. Now for the usual disclaimers. This is a 77 year old car so there is no warranty of any kind expressed or implied. Inspection of the car prior to bidding is invited, welcomed, and encouraged. The car is located at my residence about 15 minutes east of Shreveport, LA. Neither the car nor the title will be released until payment in full is confirmed by my bank. Wire transfers confirmed by my bank and cash are fine, and I actually prefer cash. $2000 deposit required within 3 days of auction close. Full payment within two weeks. Pickup time is negotiable and I can store for a short time, (less than a month), but I will be out of town from Wednesday, April 10 to Saturday, April 13, so no transfer or release of the car will occur during that time. I could possibly deliver in the lower 48 or to the broker of your choice in my enclosed trailer for $2.00 per loaded mile. I can help with loading if you send in your own transporter, but I will not get involved with arranging any overseas shipping. Any questions? Call Tom at 318-949-9744. Winning bidder should contact me at this number within 24 hrs of auction close to discuss details.
