Vehicle Detail
1979 Suzuki GS1000S Often mistakenly referred to as a "Wes Cooley Replica". About 750 of these were produced in 1979. Paint professionally restored by Larry Pearson of meticulouspaint.com. The bike runs and rides well, and attracts a lot of attention. I just changed the fork seals, and installed Progressive fork springs. Non-stock components: The turn signals are non standard, and the control box is not mounted. This bike was originally equipped with self cancelling signals. The turn signals work by holding the switch in left or right position. The wheels have been powder coated gloss black. The front brakes have been modernized with late model Concours calipers and master cylinder, larger discs, and braided steel lines. The grips are not stock. I have the original grips, undamaged. I also have the original brake components. The exhaust is a Vance and Hines system. I have two sets of original GS1000 exhausts that will go with the bike. They are not in excellent shape, and I did not deem them good enough to use. The previous owner removed the left exhaust hanger. If you wish to restore this bike to original condition, you will have to weld this back on. A GS1000 parts bike is included to provide the loop. There is one spot on the front fender, facing the engine, where a tool nicked the paint. It is not visible in the pictures, and is about 5 mm square. Shipping, is, of course, the buyer's responsibility. Bike is located near Richmond VA, and can be shown on request. Reserve set at $4200. I also found that I have two extra seats. One is a stock "E" stepped seat, and the other is a cut down original that has been re-covered. It has a drag racing cut down section. On Mar-25-13 at 07:12:06 PDT, seller added the following information:I have added some older photos to the Flickr collection. These show the cut down seat mounted. On Mar-27-13 at 13:43:10 PDT, seller added the following information:I have added photos of the parts and parts bike to the Flickr folder as requested.
