Vehicle Detail

This is a great 68 Mustang Fastback Project that has had a lot of quality work done on it. It has had all the sheet metal work done and is basically ready for paint prep, paint and final assembly. We are selling this car now so that the new owners can make all the final personal choices on the car they want to drive. We are basically selling a very nice 68 fastback body with many extras. There are numerous pieces missing for a complete car though so please read through this carefully and feel free to ask questions. 68 Fastback Body All sheet metal has been inspected and replaced/repaired. We bought this project from another party who was repairing it at the time. Some of the work was acceptable but we decided to change out a lot of it. Many new panels include cowl...top and bottom, front clip and engine bay panels...complete one piece floor system...complete one piece trunk floor...battery tray and frame rail...rear tailight panel...trunk lid....frame rail connectors (welded in)...gas tank. Other panels were either in good shape or repaired with minor metal fabricating. Keep in mind, some parts are original and at least very old. For example, the doors were not replaced. The passenger door appears to be original and the drivers was replaced with a 67 version. They both had small rust places in the lower corners which the previous owner had patched. There were signs of bondo, but the work looked effective. We POR 15 ed (rust preventative) both lower doors from the inside and felt like the repairs would last a long time. Therefore we did not replace the doors. Also the drivers rear quarter was replaced and later repaired with a patch panel. The work looks good, but it of course is an obvious repair. I am explaining all this to be perfectly clear to any potential buyer. It is my opinion, the more you know, the better decision you can make and be happy with it. All in all, we feel the body is complete and ready for final paint prep. (Block sanding and final body prep...sealing...painting). Suspension Standard 8 inch rear end with "new" five leaf heavy duty leafs. We have also added four wheel disc brakes. (Might need at least 15 inch wheels for clearance) This is an aftermarket kit, not original Ford disc brakes. Front suspension has new upper and lower control arms and new neoprene bushings. We have not done anything to the original steering box or linkage. If you go with original, the linkage will need to be rebuilt. If you go with Rack and Pinion, that is a different story. Drive train We have a 351 Windsor that will go with the car. We have no history on this motor, but did tear it apart when we bought it with the car. Everything inside the motor looks good but if you use this motor, we assume it has to be rebuilt. It is a good 351 block (69 version) but will not come with a carb, distributor, water pump or fuel pump...all of which were taken off before we got it. The car was originally a four speed car but there is "not" a transmission with this sale. Interior We have most of the major interior panels but not any of the small trim strips. New carpet set and New PRoCAR bucket seats. The rear seat has been reupholstered to match the ProCar front seats. We have the original gauges and bezel but have not checked them out. There is a wiring harness, but someone hacked it to install a different ignition switch. Useable, but you may decide to go with new. We have all the glass with both vent assemblies. There is a heater box, but it looks rough and maybe not useable. Other Parts include New front and rear bumpers....steering box and column...alternator...new master cylinder and various other parts. Let me repeat, this car is a terrific project car with most of the hard work done. I would call it rust free, but I am smart enough to know rust free cars do not exist, especially not 45 year old ones. But I can say the car is solid. All repairs we did were done with metal (not bondo). There will be bondo in the car, as we sometimes cover up grinder marks or have to fill a panel a little to smooth out 45 years of metal stress but we never cover up an issue with bondo. You may need to fix some minor imperfections that either we missed or you decide to perfect, but no major metal work or welding should be needed. While you are looking at a very solid body and lots of extra parts, (many of which are new), you will still need to buy lots of small parts. Assume the parts here are about 80% of what you will need. Feel free to ask questions as we will be very open and honest with you and will respond as quick as we can. We also have the ability to deliver or for that matter finish the car to your requirements...all for a fee of course.
