Vehicle Detail
This 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer belongs to a friend and neighbor in Washington, Georgia. He is doing the "thin the herd" thing a little bit and making a little more room in the warehouse. He purchased this vehicle on ebay back in October of 2006 and paid a shocking amount of money for it (shocking to me, anyway!) Since 1996, it has travelled a whopping 681 miles. This is as good time as any to mention that he has two other GWs, and they are pampered a little less. This one mainly sits in the garage under a cover (in some very nice company) waiting for a chance to get out and run. Vehicle was sold new in Missouri, and remained there until 2006. The Carfax report (which I will post if I can figure out how to do it) notes a September 18, 2001 "Accident /damage reported involving left front impact- it hit a motor vehicle." Well, whether it hit a motor vehicle or a horse-drawn vehicle, we find no evidence anywhere of smashing or bashing. I shouldn't even mention this incident, and hope that no one might look it up on Carfax, but you might as well hear it from me now rather than snivel and whine when you find out later (and I KNOW that you would; I certainly wouldn't miss the opportunity, myself.). Most important of all, at least if you live in the deep south and have a jet-black car, the air conditioning blows NICE AND COLD; none of the moronic "just needs a charge or a belt BS that drips from way too many ebay vehicle auctions. The windows and locks all work, and if I wasn't so lazy, I would have been hot and heavy with the powdered graphite and WD-40 to make all of them work even better. This GW has the overhead console, which is kind of cool, and a very nice correct-size set of white wall radials that have lots of miles left. There is a rust spot under the wood grained vinyl just above the gas filler cap, which you can see in one of the photos. It was on the vehicle when he purchased it. The owner never found a shop that he trusted to deal with the metal problem. It should be noted that no shop in its right mind would promise upon a stack of King James Bibles to carefully work around the original wood grained vinyl...and a total non-matching (and it wouldn't, I don't care what anyone says) wood grained vinyl panel might well end up on the left rear quarter some day, just not on his watch. I think that for the right shop, with some careful finesse, it could be a quick, durable, and almost invisible repair. I PROMISE to get to his garage and engage the 4-wheel drive lever on the floor beside the transmission console to make certain that it hasn't forgotten how to engage. I don't know when I will do it, but I will. I realize that most GW owners NEVER engage 4-wheel drive, (I don't think that I have ever "flipped the switch," so to speak, on my '87 GW with 47K miles, now that I think about it.) but there must be at least one person out there somewhere who might. The leather wrapped steering wheel is very nice, and the only noticeable wear is visible on the left leather bolsters on the driver's seat, and all of the floor mats are factory correct and very nice. There are no cracks on the dash pad, either. There is some cracking of the side glass window rubber weather strips on the outside of the vehicle, but none of the weather strips have any missing sections. YES, I know that the owner should have replaced them, but hey, sometimes it seems that there are about a zillion things that need doing around the farm before installing new weatherstrips. Sorry. For all of the lame sellers who say that they will end the item any time they feel like it, they can go jump in the lake. This vehicle is NOT for sale locally, and the only way that we plan on ending THIS auction early is if someone decides to push the magic "BUY IT NOW" button (and we're okay with that, just for the record). Oh yes, and one last cool thing, this Grand Wagoneer is not one of those dripping, leaky ones that make puddles on your pristine tile garage floor. THIS ONE is refreshingly dry underneath. Just thought you would like to know. If I have missed any fine points that I can shed some light upon, please call or text. Thanks, Kurt (706) 401-2000
