Vehicle Detail

1972 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK Description: 1972 MUSTANG FASTBACK ( Also known as the "Sportroof" Mustang) PROJECT CAR Restoration started. Approximately112,000 original miles. Original Paint. The car has never been in an accident. Engine runs well. I started the restoration. I removed the instrument cluster and began to remove the dashboard. I lost my work space and cannot complete the restoration, therefore am selling it at a loss. Overall, everything seems to work well. The transmission works well, but the shifter is sloppy. I am including one extra shifter (I may have two good used shifters, if I do, all these extras go with the car.) Windshield has been removed for the cowl-well repair. The glass man cracked my new windshield, so a new one will be needed. The car has no windshield. NOTE: This is a California Car. The body is SOLID. This means no hidden rust issues except the three areas I note below: Three problem areas: (Relatively minor quick fixes) 1) The rear of the deck lid (trunk lid) has rust where water collected. ( I found new reproduction and good used decklids (Trunk lids) on eBay for $75 to $125 Brown vinyl high-back bucket seats, no rips or tears. 2) The inside right side of the cowl vent well where the heater duct intake tube comes up is rusted. The sheet metal around the heater intake tube will need to be cut out and replaced with new sheet metal. (See picture) This rust was caused by collected leaves clogging the drain tubes. 3) The sheet metal around the battery box.New Reproduction preformed sheet metal panels which go with the car. (see picture) The rest of the body is in excellent condition. I purchased many parts, both new and used for the restoration. They all go with the car. This is a solid car and can easily be made into a Mach I clone. PARTIAL list of new and used parts: Complete used heater. From a 1972 Cougar New battery box sheet metal. This area is prone to corrosion. New and used automatic shifter parts (I believe I have two extra shifters, which I started restoration on) Good Used Stock Mustang Dash Pad. (This was a very hard part to find in the excellent condition it is in) Two new headliners (Brown) Two complete UNDER DASH wiring harnesses (USED: ) Extra gauge cluster. Extra Used armrest pad in correct color and in excellent condition. The photo of the parts do not show all of the parts; Missing in the picture is the shifters, headliners, Front shock absorber tower mounts, Battery Box Sheet-metal, wiring harnesses and more. These parts all go with the car. The upholstery is in good useable original condition. The registration is presently on non-operating status, therefore cannot be driven on the road. The hood is presently detached, I will bolt it back on prior to shipping. All parts will be loaded onto the car prior to transport. California title is clear. I highly recommend having this car trailered or loaded on a flatbed tow truck. The winning bidder must send me a non-refundable deposit in the amount of $500 within 24 hours of auction end. The balance MUST be received within 72 hours of auction end. I urge you to phone me with any and all unanswered questions. Do not bid on this auction if you are not sure about owning this car. 415-410-7725
