Vehicle Detail
For sale is a halted restoration project on a 1969 Mach 1. Up front, I fried the main wiring harness when updating the points in the spring of 2008. I out the cap back on but had the wires in the wrong order. So, as I started to remove everything to replace the wiring, I decided to take it in for a body restoration. I ended up moving and left at the shop and they did nothing but take my money. All they did was basic sanding as you see from the photos. I removed most the parts and have in a box. The rear seating was removed, but kept the frames (no one keeps original seats in restorartion). Any way, here are the facts: 80-90% Original Mach 1 with era-model engine. At some point in its life the 351W 4V was replaced with a 351C 4V. The 351C was rebuilt in 2001. And was running in 2008 before I fried the wire. It is an originally equipped and still has the original Cobra Jet ram air induction system. Man it is awesome when you floor it...feels like the wheels are about to pick up and the car take off in flight. Still equipped with the original FMX 3-speed auto and 3.50:1 Traction Lok rearend. Rebuilt the tranny in 2003. Ran great in '08. I know it got me to 125mph in no time. Maybe more (speedometer only goes so far due to the odometer reset button). Other mecahnical: air conditioning, power steering, rebuilt alternator and new harness installed (2003), radiator still solid and no leaks (sealed and still lubricated). New fuel tank ('07) and sending unit. Probally gummed up now. Still have all four original wheels plus spare and four hubcaps. Tires are still good for moving between shops. Interior. I started the gutting. I still have the back seat frames and folding dividers to the trunk. I removed the carpet from the rear. The rear quarters are in the front seat. Still have the headliner bars, all. Have the dash (original), speedometer box, passenger box with clock, all glass. I did remove the door panels but retained the "wood grain" panel insets with running pony. still have all window roller handles, all window glass and trim pieces from around the doors. The center console needs to be wiped down but has the seat belt holder in it. One thing missing is the sterring wheel insert. I removed it for dry rot. Exterior. Rust in usual places such as under doors and around rear louver bolt locations. Not bad at all on the floor pans. The car has been under cover or garage kept since 2001. Only driven in the sun. Most metal has been sanded in some way. Little more and one would be ready for paint. All bumpers are original. All lighting was removed and is boxed up. Still have all the housings. Still have the side mirrors and side vents too. Boxed up. In summary, the car looked good in 2008 before the wire fiasco. Little rust but didnt stop from being a weekend warrior. This car just has been sitting. The sanding didnt get done till this past August ('12). Littl surface rust as expected. Someone is going to have a nice car for a small restoration. If nothing else, and I hope one doesnt, a great parts car. The engine alone is worth a piece. If you have any questions, just let me know. I have all papers on this car from myself and the previous owner. I own the car and the title is clear. Must be a local pickup or a coordinated ship by the buyer. Will facilitate.
