Vehicle Detail

I've owned this car for about 6 years, replacing a '72 2+2 that I drove and maintained for the previous 18 years. This car is in very good mechanical condition and very reliable as a daily driver. The exterior is very presentable, the paint is shiny, but has some chips, scratches, and a couple minor dents you might expect from a car that is used as it should be. There is a small dent on the passenger side door sill, you can see it in some of the pictures. The interior is worn but servicable. The carpet is poor, but the seats and door panels are in very good shape. The air conditioner works well and blows cold. It has a modern Blaupunkt radio with CD and remote. The antenna is powered and goes up and down when the ignition is turned on and off. It is not a number matching car, but reasonably unmolested. It appears to have been painted one time in the past with a close match to the original color. The spare tire is original and looks like it has never touched the ground. I bought the car with 21,500 miles, and have driven it about 2k miles per year. The engine oil pressure is like new, about 40 psi @ 1500 rpm when warm. It starts right up, as long as it doesn't sit for more than a week or so, and then, only takes a little longer. It drips a little oil, but not too bad, and uses about a quart of oil between 3000 mile changes. The floorboards are solid with very little signs of corrosion. It comes with a factory hard top in good condition (a rare and desirable original option), an excellent soft top, and a tonneau cover (not standard for an e-type but very very nice custom feature to have to protect the interior without putting the top up and down with the threat of rain). All the electronics work, except the horns, and the seat belt warning buzzer which I disconnected because it makes such an awful noise. The clock keeps perfect time after being professionally rebuilt. All the gauges have had their bezels and lenses cleaned, and new o-ring seals installed. The pressure gauge looks original, but the works are a modern replacement direct-read so the oil pressure is accurate, unlike the original with an electronic indirect read transducer. Other work I've done in the time I've owned this car includes: Both engine cylinder heads rebuilt with "staked-in" valve seats Cam chain tensioner replaced (the achilles heal of this engine. Goes bad with age and very hard to replace) New brake master cylinder All brake calipers rebuilt with stainless pistons New brake pads front and rear New front brake rotors on front, drilled and slotted Recored radiator - engine runs at nominal temperature even on the hottest Florida days Upgraded with modern reliable Crane "Fireball" ignition. Koni shocks on front and rear - red New alternator (Butec replaced with modern delco w/ built-in voltage regulator) New modern geared starter motor - turns faster and stronger than original New modern rotary style fuel pump - runs quiet, with out the loud clicking sound of the original pump Michelin tires in good condition with lots of tread left If you looking for a car you can just enjoy driving with little attention, other than normal maintenance, this is it. I'm only selling this car because I've had my fun with it, and am ready to move on to something else. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
