After being insulted by the local dealer on a trade-in for their new Landcruiser, my friend has asked me to help sell his 1997 Toyota Landcruiser. It was purchased by him in 2000 with only 32,172. It was a certified pre-owned vehicle that cost $39,389.10 dollars in 2000. That was an absurd amount of money for a used car. But this is the car he wanted and he has lovingly owned it. During his ownership, he has taken his family to many ski vacations and carted his children from infancy into adulthood. He now wants to pass this lovingly owned Landcruiser to the next deserving family. Mechanically, it runs great. Cosmetically, it is challenged. The clearcoat is checking on the hood and roof(see video and photos). Most, if not all Toyotas had this issue back in the early to late 1990's and this one is not an exception to the norm. It was garaged as evidenced by the clear composite lights(see photo). I have driven this on many occassions up at their Lake Tahoe home and here in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a snowbeast. If you have never driven a Landcruiser in the snow, prepare yourself for a great impression. It is one of the most surefooted vehicles I've ever driven in the snow. The fulltime 4WD is remarkable. It still rides on Michelin tires. They will get you through the spring but I would replace them before the next snow season. The passenger running board met with a snowbank back in the early days of his ownership(see photo and video). The leather wrapped steering wheel will need to be rewrapped. I ordered a kit for it. If it arrives prior to the end of the auction, I will wrap it personally. If not, I will include it with the sale. The dash is not cracked. The large moonroof slides freely to encase a large enough opening that two people can ride down the street and shout out of it. If you are looking for one of these great FJ80's for yourself, here is a clean one that has been lovingly owned. It has a CLEAN title and CLEAN CARFAX that I can email to any interested parties. Like I mentioned, it is just a joy to drive. If I didn't have my Suburban, I would buy it and drive it to "infinity and beyond" as my young son says.
