Vehicle Detail

I first listed this car with a buy it now price "only" due to an offer from a buyer. Then they backed out. So I am editing it to a traditional auction. My reserve price is reasonable, and a buy it now price will be in effect until it is met. Thanks everyone! On to the details: I've decided to let my fun car go. I bought this Charger 6 or 8 years ago in barely running condition, with high hopes of restoration. I did at least get it solidly running, but never did the cosmetic side. It still needs some tinkering in the running department, but minor things. I rebuilt the carb, changed out the leaking valve covers, replaced the dual exhaust and all gas lines. I also had the gas tank refurbished, put in a new battery, and things like that. This car is slow to start (have to pump it for a minute or two) if you have let it sit for a while, but once it's started and warmed up it runs and drives well. I added the mag wheels and tires. I had to uses spacers and added air shocks in back to keep them clear of the wheel wells. I also replaced the front shocks. Oh, and finally... this is NOT the original 400 engine in this car. It was changed out before I bought it. This car has a clean title, and the tag is actually current and paid in Oklahoma through January 2014. Right now there are a few things needed. The speedometer slips, and I'm told it just needs to be oiled. One belt needs to be tightened, and squeaks if you hit the gas too hard. If the engine is not fully warmed up, when you punch the gas it stutters a second - I've been told this might be a vacuum pump. The windshield wipers work, but the grommets are rotted out and need to be replaced. These are currently taken apart. There's a kill switch inside so some minor wiring work is needed. I was quoted $100 to fix it (but didn't get it fixed) so it must not be a major issue. The A/C is not working - I do not know if it's simple recharge, or more. I never messed with it. I have a nicer (but not perfect) back bumper that will go with the car. Also, the gas tank float was rotten. I didn't have a replacement when I had the tank off. I have since bought one, and it will go with the car... but it is not installed. The original valve covers and a backup mag wheel go with the car. I also have a dash cover (to hide the crack in the dash) that I never installed. It will go with the car. Finally, I bought carpet but didn't install it - that will also go with the car. As you can see there are some dents and some rust issues - so there is paint and body to be done. The paint on it now is not original - it was originally a beautiful jade green metallic, which can be seen in the door jambs. But it was cheaply painted a sassy green over that, and needs new paint for sure. The vinyl top is gone, and needs to be replaced. There is rust in the trunk, but it appears to just be surface rust. Inside, the headliner is falling down and the seats need to be rebuilt. As you can see I have a cover on the driver seat. The previous owner told me that when in california they left the window down and a BEAR (yes a bear!) scratched up the seat. I don't know if that's true, but I'd love to believe it. Awesome. Well, that's all I can think of. There are probably a few other things, as with all vintage cars, but I know I got most of them and all the big things. This car drives, and I even drove it 20 miles the day these pictures were taken and the auction listed (Saturday Feb 16, 2013). I drove it to work (50 mile round trip) a couple times just for fun. It rides well, and I was not concerned. But of course, a vintage car can break down on you at any moment. Here are a few more comments. If you start this car every day, it starts up pretty quick and easy. It's only if you let it sit for a while that it starts slow. My theory is that the gas line slowly empties back into the tank, and it takes a lot of cranking to pull it back up front. Also, the valve covers have begun to leak a little bit of oil again, as I have let it sit undriven. When I was driving it a few times per week, and keeping the seals well lubricated in the process, I was able to end all drips. Oh, and above I mentioned that I have a gas tank float. What I actually have is an entire new guage - float, arm, and all. When I removed then re-installed the old one, the gas indication in the car changed to a new spot. So I'm pretty sure that it's all ok electronically, just needs an actual float in there. $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction end. I would prefer a pickup of this vehicle, but if you have a shipper you want to use I will work with you to get that done. Thanks everyone! Bid Early, Bid Often!
