You are bidding on a 1971 BMW CS 2800. I purchased this car in 2010 with the intent of using it as a parts car. The car will be sold as is and is a salvage title. The car does not have a roof as depicted in the photos. I fell in love with the particular E9 model, often arguably referred to as BMW’s most beautiful car ever built, and it had been my dream to own one. If you are a true fan or been lucky to see one of these beauties drive by, then I don’t need to sell you on specs. They are a head turner where Concours or concrete. I have been working on and off the restore over the past few years. Soon after buying a 1973 BMW CS (also selling, AUCTION # 281070971870 ), I also bought this 1971 CS (parts car). With a young family and different interests, I’m choosing to move on from this project. Unfortunately, as the cliche goes, my loss will be your gain. I will be offering both cars at a low reserve and priced to sell. The car was totaled in an accident and has a salvage title. The car had been completely restored by the previous owner before the accident, who is a reputable restorer in Marin County, before it was wrecked. It had undergone a 5-speed conversion. The leather, interior, wood, dash, Nardi steering wheel, and carpets are in pristine condition. There are also 16" Alpina's on the car (2 need to be repaired as a result of the wreck). Floorboards, rocker panels, doors, mirrors, engine bits, even down to the screws are also in pristine condition. The previous owner spared no expense in restoring this e9. He also completed a lot of work restoring the engine and electrical details as well as mentioned transmission. The car has no roof. The value and condition of the carpets, interior and bits are the key selling points. The car will be sold as is and is a salvage title. The car is not driveable.
