Vehicle Detail

I'm listing this J20 Jeep for a good friend. He is the third owner, and is well into his senior years. The Jeep's original owner was Cal Trans, the Highway Division of the State of California Gov't. He purchased it right after it was refurbished by the second owner. He used the Jeep for weekend duty on his Gentleman's Ranch in the CA High Desert, close to Mojave. The present owner has since sold his property, and no longer has need for this Jeep. It has just over 92,000 original miles, and is equipped with a 4 bbl 360 V8 and auto transmission. It has been used only occasionally on private property since 1999, the last year of registration. It currently has a "non op" status with the California DMV, so there are no registration fees or penalties due. I've driven the Jeep locally on the streets of Orange County, CA, and it appears mechanically sound, needing minor TLC. I installed a fresh battery, 5 gallons of gas, a new starter, and it fired right up. Sounds great, no smoke, no rattles in the engine.Good oil pressure, but the gas gauge didn't move (although I only put 5 gallons into an empty tank). And for some reason, the air cleaner is missing?? The temperature gauge doesn't work, but in over an hour of running, there was no sign of ovheating. I The Jeep is optioned with A/C, and it appears to be complete, but not working. There are pea-sized, first-time rust bubbles appearing at the roof corners and on the right side of the cowl on the cab - see photos below. It's obvious that it's never had any previous repair, and keeping in mind that you're looking at one 15+ year old repaint on a 23 year old truck, this Jeep is in amazing original condition. The Jeep feels solid on the road, good suspension, no nasty "clunks" in the suspension or drivetrain, a good ride. There's a carburetor stumble off idle - accelerator pump? The transmission shifts smoothly as it should. The exhaust has a leak at the left manifold, not bad, but annoying. The paint is faded but presentable. It's worst on the hood, where there are small areas of peeling or large chips. There's a shallow dent on the top of the hood on the left side, shown in the pictures. The lower body has no rust bubbles or indications of ever been repaired, and the sides are straight, free of dings. Even the bed floor is in excellent condition. Overall, this Jeep is a great find. Local inspection is welcome. Please call Chris 424 223-3366 for an appointment to inspect.
