Vehicle Detail
My apologies to initial bidders and others interested in this car. After posting my recent ad a former owner contacted me and based on that contact I contacted another former owner. The first gentleman made me aware of several factual errors in my description. The second former owner gave me a tremendous amount of information on the restoration of the car, its history, and the engine specifications. We ended up speaking for hours. As e-Bay does not allow changes to the content of a posted ad, and under the circumstances I felt it was necessary to end the auction early. This ad has the new information I received and is as factual as I can make it without going into voluminous detail. OFFERED FOR SALE: A RESTORED 1967 CHEVELLE MALIBU. This gorgeous Chevelle has been treated to a body off frame restoration that included a very high quality and high performance upgrade of the entire drive train. It is a rare Cortez silver with red interior color option; a stunning color combination that attracts quite a bit of attention and comments, at shows and when out driving. The engine is a high performance premium pump gas 454 BB Chevy 4 bolt main block with all forged internals, with a Sig Erson (now known as Erson Cams) 6.10 in.high lift full hydraulic roller cam, stainless full roller rockers, rectangular port hi-performance Chevy heads with ARP fasteners used throughout the engine. Every visible external bolt is also ARP including on header flange. This was a very high quality build with the highest quality internal components. Engine pulleys are all billet aluminum as is the transmission dipstick. A billet aluminum oil dipstick is included with with the car. The alternator is a quality high output chrome unit. The intake system consists of a Holley 300-5 single plane aluminum intake manifold with a custom race series Quick Fuel Technology 950 cfm carburetor. and K&N filtering with Aeromotive electric fuel pump and 1-micron lifetime filter. All fuel lines and fittings are of the highest quality one inch braided stainless steel; also there is a fuel system pressure regulator and gauge located adjacent to the Quick Fuel carb. Ignition is complete MSD with a 6AL Digital controller and matching new Blaster coil, a billet aluminum MSD distributor and 8.5mm plug wires, all new in 2010. Other components include: Griffin Aluminum radiator with billet overflow tank. Hi- torque mini-starter 2010. 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust system new in 2010. Moroso front and rear springs with race shocks. 4 wheel POWER DISC BRAKES, power quick ratio 3.5 turns steering box. Built up turbo 400 transmission with 10 inch converter and temperature controlled frame rail cooler. The transmission functions perfectly with barely perceptible shift points during everyday driving. Rear end is a Chevy 4.11 ratio 12 bolt positraction unit. Extensive frame and suspension strengthening including SO Cal boxed upper and lower control arms and traction bar setup. Chassis works superbly. There is no harshness during driving. It rides like a stock 67 Chevelle. Tires are BF Goodrich P-215 front and P-275 rear on classic Weld Racing Wheels. They set the car off beautifully. This car has never been a race car. However it was taken to the track and with Mickey Thompson drag slicks fitted it ran a best time of 9.98 with a 125 shot of nitrous. That indicates that motor alone is producing approximately 575 horsepower. This is a non-AC car with original radio present, not producing sound, and heater controls are non op. Given the sound of this car I don't think anyone would ever miss the lack of a functioning radio! All other accessories function properly including wipers, turn signals and all lights, etc.. . There are a few small marks in the paint from use and storage. (Serious potential buyers contact me by phone for the particulars. Please, do not waste our time if you are not seriously interested in the car.) You have to look closely to notice them. The Cortez silver paint has that "sheet of glass" mirror quality, typical of an excellent ten thousand dollar paint job and is a couple of magnitudes better than what the factory provided in 1967. See my Flickr album for visual proof of the veracity of that statement. . Owning this car has been a lot of fun. It's always a thrill to fire up the car and take it out for a drive (the neighbors are not quite as enthusiastic, one has complained that his house feels "pressurized" inside when the car is fired up). This car does garner a tremendous amount of attention out on the road and at shows due to its appearance and sound, yet it is perfectly streetable. When I take it out it’s usually for several hours of pure enjoyment and I do that once a week putting about 25 miles on it each drive. There are no overheating issues and oil pressure at idle when the car is completely warmed up is between 35 and 40 p.s.i with Royal Purple 20/50 racing oil. This Chevelle is a true muscle car in being dominant on today’s streets just as its 396 ancestors were 40 plus years ago, yet is a complete "sleeper" in that it looks stock and doesn't even have or need in my opinion a tachometer. To sum up, this is a beautiful 1967 Chevelle that appears to be stock, is capable of tremendous performance, but.could actually be driven daily from a reliability point of view. 34 ADDITIONAL AND UPDATED PHOTOS ARE AVAILABLE.
