over 50 MPG!!!!!!! Ok here is the deal: I recently bought this car from the original owner, she is 84 years old and she was driving the car up until recently when her son insisted she buy a newer car and she did and guess what it was.....another Silver VW Golf 4 door!!!! She bought this car new and told me the story of how she came to obtain this one, this was the last 86 Diesel Golf available east of the Misssippi and she took a plane to go to Murfreesboro TN and drove it home, I have the original title in her name showing 92 miles at delivery(I will re-title in my name for the new owner just wanted to be able to prove original ownership). Now as much as I would like to keep this car(i know how hard they are to find) The misses in my house says I have too many cars already!!!! The oil has just been changed, The wheels are brand new(a friend of mine had these sitting in the boxes in his shop for many years, its really hard to find 13 inch aluminum wheels anymore!!!) I have the original steel wheels with caps also that go with the car. The tires are not new(they are the ones that were on it when I bought it, I just transferred them to the new wheels) and will need to be replaced in the near future. The car runs and drives really nice and the appearance is not bad at all(she kept in her garage) it has a couple scratched areas (see pics). and the hood has some light scratching that is hard to show in pictures, the interior is nice but in need of a really good cleaning. There are no cracks in the dash at all and the radio works fine. All lights work, glow plug works perfectly as well as the cable operated idle control(for cold starts), It has a brand new battery that I just installed. Things I know that are wrong with the car: 1) Needs wiper blades 2) Needs both rear wheel cylinders replaced(previous owner informed me of this) 3) will need tires soon(I priced new ones they are $240 installed but since I am having to sell it decided not to this, I put the wheels on it because I got them for free!!) 4) It will most likely need some basic maintenance(except oil change) and attention to some things due to age but you can drive it home, but I would reccomend towing it and checking it over real good before making a daily driver out of it ***I have done my best to take good pictures and describe this vehicle as accurately as I can but it is 27 years old, however, should you have specific questions or want to see any pictures of anything close up please feel free to ask, you are welcome to call me at 804-337-2998 as well*** This is a NO RESERVE auction and the highest bidder will own this cool little gas saving car!!! $500 deposit through paypal within 24 hours of auction ending and the rest paid in cash at the time of pick up(dont want to pay the paypal fees!!!) I have had a couple of good questions already so I want post this comment as a result: I haven't had this car long enough to reccomend it for a long distance trip home, I dont have tags for it so I have only ventured out for short trips a few times near my house and it did very well each time, it shifts well and they clutch is in good shape, it is missing some trim panels in the hatch area as well as the rear washer fluid cap. Also I want to say Please remeber this car is 27 years old and I am sure there will some issues to deal with hear and there, I can really only promise I know the basic history of the car, I know it runs and drives good and that I like driving it, I am also sure most of you that will bid on this car will know more in general than I do about this car, I just always wanted one I have owned many VW's over the years and currently own a restored 65 bug and a nice sandrail, my point being if it was air cooled I am sure I could share more info with you!!!
