Vehicle Detail

I have a nearly rust free original 1942 Chevy shortbed pickup that has the original engine and trans in it and shows around 87000 miles on it. I believe 42 was a very limited production truck because they quit building them early in the year to save the metal for WWII efforts. The engine in it has a cracked block but ran with that problem 10 years ago. Another 216 is included and it isn't locked up and is very complete. This truck would make an excellent street rod, rat rod or original restoration project due to it being so complete. The truck has at least three layers of paint on it but zero filler in it other than the mirror holes on the driver door. It has a nice patina if you are looking to build a rat rod. The guide taillights on it would look nice on a rat (cracked lenses). There are very few parts missing that I know of and they are the two front hubcaps, horn button, gas pedal, glove box liner, windshield wiper arm, keys, rear bumper, and maybe a few small metal pieces that go in the factory holes in the floor. The rear fenders and tailgate are rough if you are wanting to build a nice truck but probably perfect for a rat. The original magic air heater is in it. The crank out windshield works nicely and the door windows work as well. The windshield frame, headlight buckets, hood, front fenders, runningboards, passenger door and cab are as close to perfect original parts as you could find. There is no rust through in the door bottoms, cab corners, cowl, or rockers. The doors shut very nice for an old truck. There is a small amount of rust in the door skin on the drivers side (see photo). There are some holes on the upper frame of the drivers door from different mirrors being mounted on it over the years. The passenger floor has a very small amount of rust in the flat spot by the cowl (see photo) easy fix. There are two holes behind the rear window on the back of the cab from something being mounted there not bullet holes (see photo)easy fix. There is also two spots of very minimal rust on the beltline on the back of the cab (see photos). There are small issues with the stake pockets on the bedsides but very fixable and usable bedsides and front bed panel for a nice truck build. The runningboards are rust free but have some bends in them may be able to straighten them out just letting you know. The grill is dinged up some but should be able to be straightened out and rechromed or left that way depending on what kind of build you're doing. The clutch and 3 speed transmission function properly but the brakes don't work. The truck rolls nicely for loading. Some of the glass is cracked but its all flat glass and fairly cheap to buy new. The original bed wood and metal strips are in it but very detoriorated. It was last tagged in 66 in Nebraska and was shedded before the last owner who garaged it for the last 10 years. The truck has a clear ks title that matches the number on the body tag. Let me know if theres any pics you need to see or if you have questions. Email or call 785-220-4411 to get more pics or to come take a look. The truck is for sale locally so the auction may end at anytime before a bid is placed. The last picture is of what the truck could look like with lots of fabrication work and a second truck it's a 3 door extended cab. It's the previous owners truck. Sorry for the lengthy description but I try to describe items I sell as honestly as possible so the buyer is not disappointed with their purchase. Full payment due within 7 days with a $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auctions end. I can store the truck up to 30 days inside for free but it needs to be picked up in that amount of time. I will help the buyer or transporter in loading it. This is a no reserve auction with one bid you could own this truck if nobody else bids. That does not mean that I will take $2500 for it unless thats the final bid at the end of the auction so don't ask. Thanks and good luck bidding!!!On Feb-18-13 at 15:08:48 PST, seller added the following information: Be sure to watch my auctions next weekend as I will most likely be listing a very complete and solid 1946 Chevrolet COE project with clear title on here next Sunday. Thanks and good luck bidding!!!
