1960 Chevrolet Impala V8 3 SPEED SPORT COUPE ~ 2 DOOR HARDTOP THE REAL DEAL, A TRUE "BARN FIND" INSIDE DRY COLORADO STORAGE FOR 30+ YEARS! 1960 Chevrolet Sport Coupe *A 1960 Time Capsule * ‘60 Impala Sport Coupe - 2 Door Hardtop – V8 - 3 Speed - Barn Find! Hello, what your looking at here is a True, Rare “Barn Find” Time Capsule 1960 Impala Sport Coupe, 2 Door Hardtop! This Classic is truly a time capsule sitting untouched as it was left in the late 70’s with the sixty era condition showing all over it. From the 1960’s Original Custom ET 5 Spoke Wheels, to the Wide-track Daytona Bias Ply G-60-14 Tires, to the Original 60’s Hurst Stick 3 Speed floor shifter! This ‘60 Chevrolet Impala along with many other Classic Cars & Trucks, has been sitting in a dry storage barn since the late 1970’s and this Impala has had only two known owners from new. The Title is 1965! This classic '60 comes from a very private collection that is not open to the public in any way. The gentleman that has collected these cars started back with his father passing down the love of cars way way back in the 30's, 40's & 50's. These Classic Cars are the pride and joy of this man's life time of work. This ‘60 has been family owned since the early sixties and has been in Colorado from new. This '60 Impala is a overall very solid TRUE survivor! Showing Lower Mileage at 66,020 currently showing, (no official docs, but old original oil change tags dating mileage back @ 47,300 in 4-73? turned over...? pedals and speedo look too clean for a 166,020 car, plus the long time sitting in storage, so you be the judge on this?) The car was first owned by a picky mechanic that serviced the car and added the nice rare twin tower heads FOR MORE HORSEPOWER way back at the same time the HURST stick was converted. NOTE: Everything is still in place to put it back to column shift if needed. Very small hole for the tight ratio stick shift. Here are some options the car came from the factory with. Padded Dash Dash Clock AM Radio Rear Radio Antenna This ‘60 Impala has Original paint showing in Original Emerine White color. The car has never been completely repainted, but has had a blend on the very lower portion of the car way back. paint is thin and original factory primer is showing threw in many spots. The body had some minor spot repairs then it looks like but all very small. Valence lower panels look to be redone in touchup at the same time. Very straight bodied car. The car has mostly all of its original parts, main components. The car has sat for 33+ years, so it is a great frame off high point restoration candidate classic. You just cannot find them like this any more! This is truly a classic waiting for a frame off high dollar restoration to make it a top show winner for the pure Chevrolet Collector. Everything is there! and ready to disassemble with ease as the nut and bolts are not rusted out, or frozen-up, like so many that are out there,- if any at all. As you know if you have been looking for a Big Fin Gull Wing 1960 Impala, the '60 Impalas are on a increase in value over the last several years, but are very hard to find in unrestored original condition. I will now go over the car with a honest evaluation and let you know the great, good, and worst areas of the overall condition. Sitting since 1977 in dry storage. Now Starts easy with touch of the key, The car has now had the plugs changed, New Fuel Pump installed, all cylinders lubed with miracle oil first- before firing, belts, hoses, inspected for rot and replaced if needed. Gas tank is in great shape, but is now disconnected at the time, to run a under-hood temporary gas-can for running clean gas, for loading. Tranny & clutch engages, engine runs good, starts, but no overall road testing time. Brakes ok, bled, but will need inspected for road worthiness, ok for loading stopping GOOD now and with Emergency-Brake also working very good. This '60 I believe after inspection could be a easy daily driver with just a bit more inspection to be safe. No guarantee on motor, but it sounds and idles very good and the carb has not even been rebuilt yet! The car sits on a SET OF ORIGINAL 1960's 5 Spoke ET Racing Custom Wheels and 60's Wide-Track Bias Ply Daytona Sport G-60-14's! Tires. Tire were new when stored, but some now have dry cracks from sitting so long. I have a new set of radials if your interested or possibly a original rim set, please ask. Note the spare tire and wheel are matching ET custom also but it’s a ET II rim and Daytona tire is old.! The Overall Main Body Condition: The body is very solid where it is critical and where it needs to be solid! The main Floors and braces are in great original shape, rust free in most all areas! There might be a few hidden small spots, but overall rated 90% solid as a rock! Hard to find on any 60 Impala today. Thousands of dollars saved in this area of restoration alone! The trunk is solid overall. The trunk for a current driver is just fine as is. The main and upper wheel houses are very nice, no seam rust! The main body mounts in trunk are rust free also! The overall body is solid and the rockers are good with a few spots that were addressed back in time at some point, lower & inner rockers have some rust outs but are 70% good, to call it fair from what we can see. Front fenders are both very good, the lower front tire area splash up, one tiny pin hole drivers side only showing. The rear wheel well lips are now showing good with two or three spots touched up repaired in the past in the lower side body touchups. One note, as for any body rust damage, the only area that has had a inspected known repair is the lower drivers rear quarter just before the rear wheel well opening, around a 4” x 5” area just be accurate. The doors are rust free, the hood is rust free even nose area, the trunk lid is rust free, upper rockers, under the carpet sill plates are super solid, rocker cover inside plates are still in beautiful primer brown factory paint with no rot at all. Main X Frame overall is great, no rust or rot anywhere just slight surface dirt, normal! The front end area looks good also with no bottom outs or A-Arm dent damage. Great undercarriage overall! The entire body of the car was 400 grit wet sanded to remove grime surface discoloration from sitting and to show the true original paint surface. The next step can be done (if no repaint is your choice) at 800 grit then a power buffing if that is what your into for a real rat rod survivor original paint job! Note: Some old body spots where some of the old body work was done, have been resealed with a matching light white primer sealer to protect the areas from any bare metal exposure. Overall Interior Condition: The Interior is all original factory as delivered with the exception of the rear deck tray and the old clear seat covers to protect the original seats. The original seats are in great shape if you choose a full restoration, as the foam and padding are very supportive still and springs are all strong with no sags. The main seat condition will save you alot, as they will only need a fabric recover and no expensive rebuilding. Door panels are original and good and the rear side panels are also very good Factory originals. All are very good for a daily driver with lower drivers door showing carpet change insert. The Headliner is all original and and shows two small rips from stress, the visors are very good. Carpet is a older replacement as it was “salt and pepper” colored if original- the mats are in the correct salt pepper carpet. The under carpet tar padding & felting is all the original. The padded dash was original and was removed along with all the foam and glue, this was a job done very carefully, this was due to many sun heat cracks. The overall main dash is very very nice and all original with great beautiful stainless trim and chrome! The Glove box cardboard is very good also and light works. Door side trim is great and side trim around headliner is in fantastic mint shape! This also is a high dollar area that is not needing any restoration! Note: Trunk floor has the rubber matting with original nice side cardboard still there and rear seat cardboard still there. The Spare Tire is a 5th Original Custom ET II Wheel 5 Spoke rim and matching old 60’s tire, all there with original jack and base. Stainless & Chrome: The stainless and chrome are in very good shape. The stainless trim has very few and only very minor dings, scratches, but all can be restored to show condition with nothing missing. The main chrome is driver quality original and the Pot Metal in in fantastic - great shape, with no pitting and the window frames and vent window frames are excellent! These again also are a high dollar items to rechrome when needed, none needed! The grill is straight and headlight surrounds are also nice as are the rear tail light bezels. All very good to top driver quality that can be made show restored. The outer passenger side rear bumper end has peel chrome starting on the under side, this will need rechromed, or replaced exchanged to keep original. Glass & Weather Seals Rubber: The Glass is all original and coded clear beautiful!, NOTE, the front windshield is Original and in the E-Z Eye tinted, all the rest, rear, sides, front vents, are all original clear glass in beautiful clear shape. only slight bubbles on the vent windows, but the main sides are awesome clear. The seals are in good shape noting no leaks, glass fit is great tight on sides, the weather door seals and trunk are good also. All good driver quality originals. Electrical items: Radio Works Great! On Feb-21-13 at 19:10:51 PST, seller added the following information: Due to many emails coming in, I Need to clairify the original paints condition one more time, to make sure all bidders are assured of it's current condition. This is a original paint car, it has never been repainted completly, but has had some paint work done on the lower portion of the car. This is original acrillic lacqure paint car, that has been paint blended in on the lower portion after some lower only local minor touchups body work that was done. I Have stated correctly all aspects of what was found by overall inspection. As for the body, very solid original car with the most older bodywork done it seems at the front of the drivers rear wheel well front lower to inner rocker area. some minor upper lip touch-ups as well. thats what we found to date, the main body and floors, braces, to main trunk floor, are all very nice original metal and very solid. (Some have ust asked to see the floors and inside the trunk, they are all shown in the photos!) please scroll down to see the inspection of floors. the only rust is at the inner rockers small 2"x2" spots on inner rockers that is showing. one small spot on the inner lower rear 1/4 aft of the rear wheel well, a spot 2"x2" cut out and repaired some time way back? a 90-95% rust free car overall no surprises as shown. the paint is very thin in many spots showing great overall "PATINA" overall. It has brown primer showing through in spots, and many small rock nick/chips, rashes, scratches, most all touched up over the years. It is original showing paint, that is cool to find "as is" original condtion. hope that helps thank you! Please ask any and all questions now, we want the next owner to be totally happy with the car. one last note again YES THE WHITE 1959 IMPALA IS SOLD AND GONE, SORRY! We do have more coming up a 1959 Belair with 8,850 miles, (not 80, yes 8 thousand,) unrestored original car from NEWYORK! Thanks!,On Feb-21-13 at 19:21:53 PST, seller added the following information: Small Note: The old 1960 Colorado licence plate shown, by law cannot be included in this vehicle sale. Thank you.On Feb-21-13 at 19:30:25 PST, seller added the following information: To Clarify again, the seats are all original and have been repaired in spots where some seems have split, before they were covered in very nice plyable clear old pattern original seat material covers, dont know exact age but they are very durable and not brittle at all!. The seats structures are sound and very well formed still, but the original material is old and split in some spots as shown. If the clear covers were removed, the seats would need recovered in new material, as the old material is dry in spots. Seats are Fine "as is" and very useable for daily use!
