Vehicle Detail

For those who like it short and sweet: Beautiful car. No issues. Just inspected. Needs nothing. Custom stainless exhaust. Hard wired radar detector. Looks and drives like a two year old car with 25,000 miles. Compares well with the new $60,000 model. Easy $18,000 car selling at No reserve. For those who like details, read on. I went to look at this car a couple months ago as it was advertised as "showroom condition". I thought "right, no way" but decided to look anyway. Saw it, drove it and bought it on the spot. Obviously a well loved car that has had a pampered life. There is absolutely nothing that belies its age and mileage: no wear on interior, no parking lot dings, no stone chips, no glass chips or scratches, paint is deep and glossy, tires are recent. I have owned half a dozen audi's and they are great cars. A premium experience. My wife has been driving the same one for 12 years with no issues. I especially love the 4.2 V8. It is a 40 valve, race bred engine that produces 335 horsepower making this a sleeper car that will outperform most. It has a timing chain, not a belt so a big maintenance service of the belt is never an issue. It gets surprisingly good mileage. So powerful it loafs along. At 60 you are pulling only 1,800 rpm. Easy to see 25 mpg's if you go the speed limit. However, it is very hard to stay at the limit. This car was built for the autobahn and loves to run. If you aren't careful you look down and see you are doing 85. That's why I had a remote controlled Cobra radar detector installed and hard wired behind the rear view mirror. The only thing I didn't like was the exhaust note. It was boring and quiet. So I took it to my favorite shop "Lou's Custom Exhaust" where we ended up tweaking and changing till we got it perfect, at least for my taste. It is a full stainless system with factory cats, no resonators and low resistance mufflers. The flared outlets were extended about 3/8th's of an inch to match the more aggressive tone. Now she purrs along when cruising but roars pretty good when accelerating hard and burbles nicely when downshifting. No highway drone which can be an issue if you go too far. Very satisfying experience. Sometimes I turn off the Bose surround stereo just to hear the pipes. By liberating the engine it has to be pushing near 350 horses and, as a bonus, MPG's went up. My sons drive the new Audi's, one the s4 the other the s5. Both have the 3.0 supercharged engines. Very nice rides. Very expensive. The big drawback for me is you can't get the exhaust to sound good. Still a six cylinder engine that sounds like a "boy racer" if you lessen the restriction. I know because one tried and put it back stock. And my v8 gets the same MPG's as theirs! Car was state inspected in December and needed nothing. Fully detailed and comes with front and rear weathertech floor mats. No leaks, smoke, smells, squeeks or rattles. Shudder free stops, seamless tranny shifts and goes down the road straight and true. Great color comibination, beautiful gray over black leather interior. Of course no car is perfect but you have to look hard to find anything to pick at: three of the wheels have touched the curb, not curb rashed just lightly marked an inch or less, and a dimple the size of a pencil eraser by the rear license plate. That's it. Loaded, loaded with pretty much everything: Navigation, keyless entry and start/stop (totaly spoils you for anything else. No fumbling for your key, just keep it in your pocket. Car senses you are near and doors unlock. Get in and push the start button. Start rolling and doors lock. Sweet.) seats are superb with heat front and rear, lots of adjustments and lumbar control, memory for your favorite positions and steering wheel automatically moves up to get out and comes to hand nicely once car is started, satellite radio, one touch windows, moon roof, ski pass through to trunk, xenon headlights with auto sensors, rain sensing wipers, info center that gives mileage, temp, service indicators like bulbs or time for brakes, variable assist steering, adaptive headlights that swivel to match the corner, 6 cd changer in glove box, steering wheel controls, power adjustable and heated mirrors with power folding, back up alarm sensors, air bags everywhere, tip tronic tranny which lets you select auto, sport or shift yourself. Does not have the "adaptive suspension" which can be wicked expensive to fix. Audi's are dipped in galvanization at the factory so you never have to worry about rust. So if it is so great why am I selling it? I have put 3,000 pleasurable miles on her and loved it so much I moved up the food chain to the sport version with paddle shifters and stiffer suspension and wider tires and more horsepower. The one I am selling rides way better and is more practical for everyday use. But after 40 years of driving and after owning around 100 vehicles I have come to the conclusion that I will only drive something that gets my pulse rate up. What's the old saying "don't buy a car you can live with, buy one you can't live WITHOUT". Think about it. Since this is a true no reserve auction I am not allowing bids from any bidders with a feedback history of less than 5. Clean and clear title in hand for an easy transaction. Fly into Manchester and have a delightful drive home. You will love it.
