About the 2005 Lexus SC430The Lexus SC 430 is a luxury, two-seat sports car that is equipped with a variety of standard features and distinguished by a one-touch, retractable, folding hard top. The SC was developed to appeal to a segment of the market who wanted sports car appeal without sacrificing ride quality, noise reduction and touring performance that distinguishes the Lexus brand. Bucket seats were added in the back to avoid the two-seat insurance premium, but they are not functional for passengers. The Lexus 430 SC was discontinued after the 2010 model year and was replaced by the IS 250 and 350 convertible models. With an all-aluminum, 3.4-liter, V8 engine, the SC delivers an exhilarating 288 horsepower and 317 pound-foot of torque. Performance is enhanced through continuously variable valve timing, which boosts output across the entire rpm range. The transmission is the trademark Lexus six-speed automatic with a manual sequential shifting option. Although the SC requires premium unleaded gas, fuel economy is 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, which is more than acceptable for a high performance sports car.
