Vehicle Detail
1976 BMW R90S, production date 10/75, matching engine and VIN#'s 4990501, original mileage 24,676, Clear California Title currently registered thru 08/30/2013, Original Smoke Silver paint. I'm the 3rd owner, the bike just had complete service. This is a very clean low mileage complete original R90S, also known as the First Super Bike. The bike's paint does have some nicks and scratches on it from the first owner. The frame and motor are close to spotless given it's age. The bike's history is as follows: The original owner purchased it new in early 1976. He rode and enjoyed it for 20 years, putting 24,000 miles it before selling it. The second owner was a motorcycle collector and BMW enthusiast who purchased it in 1996. The bike was displayed in his collection for the next 15 years, pulling it out occasionally for short day trips. This owner only put 500 miles on it. When he decided to sell it, he took it to his BMW dealership for a service. They cleaned the carburetors, installed new grips, and installed a new set of Bridgestone Tires. When I purchased it, I also placed it into my bike and sidecar collection and do ride it occasionally. I've only put 167 miles on it. On 10/07/12, I took the bike to my BMW mechanic for a complete inspection and tune-up. The service work he did included (but was not limited to) the following: valve adjustment, set timing, installed new throttle cables, synchronized carburetors, installed new oil pan gasket, changed all oils (crank, tranny, drive shaft, differential), flushed hydraulic brake fluid system and installed new fluid, installed new exhaust header cross over, installed all new cable boots (throttle cable, clutch cable, speedometer cable), repaired fairing attachment, and installed a new battery. The reason I've decided to sell this beautiful piece of BMW history is that I currently have 6 BMW airheads and I ride all of them occasionally. This is my only S model and at my age, it's simply just not my riding style. If the bike doesn't sell, I plan on pulling it out of my riding rotation and just keeping it as a very nice addition to my collection. Please look at all the pictures and email any questions before bidding. The bike is available for inspection by appointment until the auction ends. The bike is sold as is and a $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction, with full payment due before shipping or pick up. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs.
