Vehicle Detail
Believe body to be a 1929 Model A Coupe with the top cut off. Bed looks like a Model A pickup bed. Has FORD script lettering on tailgate. Custom built frame with boxed rails. Appears to be 2X4 in 3/8". Made to appear like a 1929 Model A Roadster Pickup. Front axle is from a 42 Mercury. Rear end is out of a 92 Ford Ranger PU and has the 4 link suspension. According to the serial number the 350 Chevy engine is a 300HP GM crate motor. Serial number on the block is M01291VP. According to the online info, it appears this was made in Mexico, is a 4 bolt main block and 300HP. Let me know if you know otherwise. Came out of a wrecked pickup and ran great. Was resealed with all new gaskets and then sealed in plastic. Includes a used Edelbrock carb (dirty and probably needs rebuilt. Does have electric choke). Also has Edelbrock performer intake manifold. Has HEI ignition. Represented as a good runner, but has not been started for 5 years. Has been in indoor storage with plastic cover. Transmission is a 2 speed Powerglide and it has been completely rebuilt to original specs with replacement parts. Have the correct yokes and 3 drivelines for the Rat Rod, but you will have to cut and build the driveline to length. Has a brand new dash panel as shown in photos. Uncut, so you can put any instruments you want in it. Comes with SBC header you see in the photos. They are at the powdercoater for a high temp black finish and will look new when I get them back next week. The headers were purchased new for this car, but rusted when left outside for a short time. They will be sandblasted and powdercoated. Engine and transmission are mounted correctly with crossmembers and the chassis/suspension fabrication is complete. Body and bed are not mounted. Body was channeled about 4" to sit low to the ground. Have an awesome set of bat wing wind wings to go on the roadster posts. Have a model A chrome radiator shell that has been cut down for the Rat Rod and also a recored radiator with center filler for this car. Radiator is not mounted. Have 2 brand new 8" wide steel wheels with baby moons for read axle.. Plan was to powdercoat wheels red and use baby moon caps. Rear wheels are Ford 5 on 5.5". Planned on putting narrow wheels and tires on front with matching powdercoat and baby moons. 3/8" Plate steel floor has been tacked in, but needs finished. Body is pretty good and straight (no bullet holes that I can see), but doors are rusty on the bottoms and will need patch panels. The bottom of the cab is also rusty and will need patched. Needs driveline, radiator installed and steering installed to be driveable. Will also require wiring and lights, etc. Original model A gas tank is still installed in the cowl and planned to use it for fuel. Probably needs cleaned and sealed or replaced. Note: Body is simply sitting on the frame and is sitting slightly low in the rear. The pickup bed is bungeed in place. It will look correct when proper body and bed mounts are fabricated to give it the right stance. Same with the radiator. It is simply blocked up in place. Most of the hard work is done. This is a great start to an awesome Rat Rod. Welding and fabrication done to this vehicle is professional. No title, only a Bill of Sale, but can be titled in Idaho with a steel body as a 1929 with inspections and a new assigned Vin#. I do not know how to do it through eBay. On Jan-20-13 at 12:07:53 PST, seller added the following information: Just for fun, pull out your SPEEDWAY Motors catelog and start pricing out individual components for this Rat Rod. The least expensive bare frame I can find it about $1,000. Front Suspension is about $700 Rear Suspension and rear end is about $1200 What are you going to pay for an all steel 29 model A coupe body? $400 How about an authentic Model A pickup bed? $300 What about a 300HP Chevy 350 crate motor. New about $3000 and used maybe $1,000 if you can find one Rebuilt Powerglide 2 speed A/T? $1,000 How about the radiatior shell and radiator? $ 350 Powdercoated header $250 New dash $100 Bat Wing Wind Wings $100 if you could find them New Steel wheels with baby moon caps? $150 New Edelbrock 600CFM carb is $279. Used $100 Correct yokes for drivetrain for tranmission and differential? $150 TOTALS $6550 using the lowest numbers. Add in at least 100 hours for fabrication at $20 an hour and you have another $2000. Maybe if you shop well you could save 20-50%. My reserve about 1/4 of that..
