Factory 2 toned paint Seaside Aqua & Marina Aqua Metallic Factory Aqua 2-toned comfort weave interior Drivers side mirror with interior adjustable controlDealer optioned seat belts & matching interior pillows"Dou-Costic" rear stereo speaker system optionRear seat interior dual spot lightsFactory spare & tire cover, trunk pad & front disc brakesRare Rambler "spinner" style hubcap option"Solex" all factory tinted glass option This was the first edition of the Marlin, introduced mid year 1965. You can see by the Motor Trend Magazine cover that this color was the featured color, and most desirable of all color combinations produced. This car is in overall amazing condition. It features the 232/6 cylinder engine with 2V carburation, engine number W178937 & factory 3 speed AT. This was a transition year from Rambler to American Motors; the only year AMC Marlin still with Rambler emblems. This is a documented low mileage, and number matching edition, with serial number 2101568, making it only the 1,568 Marlin ever produced. HISTORY: This car was a mid west barn, estate sale find about 10 years ago. It was kept in one family, a small town where it was driven very little, to the store and church, Sunday events. As the owners became elderly, it sat in a heated home garage for over 15 years. The family estate parted with it, and after it was found it was refreshed with a tune up, reconditioned gas tank and new gas. Some belts & hoses & exhaust was replaced with NOS parts. The exterior base color blue was professionally repainted to eliminate some minor scuffs and blemishes. Last year the Marina Aqua Metallic blue paint on the top was also repainted to show standards, with and exact match to factory color and high quality. The car has had new tires put on due to age. All the rest, under the hood, in the trunk, etc, is still all original. Original engine paint, you will see original stickers still up under rear trunk lid, original aluminum sound insulation pads under front hood, original spare tire (with cover) and original trunk mat. Original 1965 Marlin Owner Manual. The last few years this car has been taken to a few shows, where it has won "Best of Show", "People's Choice Award" & also a "Best Original Condition" car. This car not perfect, a few minor details to bring to #2 condition as per most price guides. A totally amazing and a rust free and solid existing Marlins, may be one of the best examples in the country. Glass is mint, original bumpers & chrome fantastic as you can see in the photos. The car has had the stereo changed to a 1980 vintage cassette. This was the rare model rear duo speaker edition so it would be great to change radio back to stock. There is a small split, crack in the dash, that I was quoted about $80.00 to fill and repair. Original owners had placed a carpet mat on the dash and I have not changed it. The swirl polished aluminum dash is great, and the car has the option under the glove box of the Rambler chrome tissue box that swivels out. Inside the glove box there is a chalk mark on the glove box inner door, which I assume to be a final factory inspection mark. This cars fires right up with a click of the key, runs super smooth and quiet, shifts and drives very nice. The brakes work fine, but the master cylinder is still factory original and had lost some fluid from its upper seal, so I just ordered a new one that arrived and that will be included in the sale. I have lots of extra photos, up underneath showing how solid & rust free, wheel wells & exhaust and all around the car. I have photos of the 1965 1/2 Motor Trend Magazine & factory manuals. See the interior, it is overall excellent along with door panels, headliner, etc. I have been driving car and did not detail floor mats or polish chrome, etc. ...I also have interior glove box shots, more trunk photos showing wheel cover, etc. Photos of the Data Plate & VIN tags. Close ups of odometer mileage. It would be hard to find a better, low miles and original condition classic than this car. Bargain priced well below estimates of value for this condition.
