Vehicle Detail
FABULOUS IRISH GREEN 1969 R GRUPPE EVENT CAR ** see below Original Irish green this Porsche has been set up for Rallies and Eventing, long term PCA Memebership, based on a 1 year only long wheel base, long hood Porsche 1969 912, vin # 129020020, the car is fitted with a rebuilt and highly detailed 1970 911T engine # 9109749 with rebuilt carburetors, and 5 speed 901 gearbox with short shift. The car has an excellent body with perfect gaps and alignment, and was subject to a windows out and new seals, high quality respray in it's original Irish Green Paint code number #6806 (6216Z) M3213Irish Greenthe car still has it's original front horseshoe and pans, that were repaired as needed, see pics during the earlier restoration, and apart from a small area of active rust, poor prep? on the lower passenger side front fender, see pic, the car hasno other active rust. The side and rear deco trim has been removed for that classic look race look. The paint is holding up well and has lots of depth and shine, but there are some minor stone chips, see pic and one soft dent on the drivers door, see pic.The door jams appear to be original and still have the original paint on them, see picture of Paint and Vin tags. All glass and trim is in good condition. The interior has updated modern seats for comfort and support, as well as new carpets and a new headliner, see pics. The door panels are also new and custom made to replicate the R style lightweight trim with leather door pulls, pic.The dash is original and in excellent condition, save for one small crack about 1/2 an inch long in the usual speaker to vent place, see pic, the gauges all work, the steering wheel is original, dated '69. There are period rear seat belts.A two stage heated rear window was found and installed, complete with sticker, and replaces the single stage unit, but is currently inop. The car has been lowered to European height, and the steel wheels have been powder coated black for that stealth look, car features upgraded sway bars, new shocks and rebuilt red brake calipers. Overall the car has a very good feel and presence, looks very nice, has had a lot of time effort and money spent on it to get it to this level, but is not to be considered restored or perfect, since this was not the object, it is just a really nice fun car. *Now for the sad part.Last time out, several months ago, following a missed gear change, the engine was briefly over revved, and lost power, and then had to be towed. No further damage was inflicted to the engine. The good part is that the engine still runs at low rpm with no smoke, but now it makes a noticeable clacking noise, and has no power, the probable/possible cause is most likely a bent valve or a skipped timing chain. The new owner will need to fix this before the car can be driven. That said the car will make a splendid project for somebody. Car sold as a running but non driving project, as is where is no warranty of any kind. Please look at all the pictures, ask all questions before bidding, I will make the vehicle available to your mechanic to inspect. I can assist with shipping if required and recommend Schumacher Cargo Lines, please get any shipping quotes from them.
