Vehicle Detail
Fully restored 1923 Model T Roadster. I purchased the car to display in the lobby of my new office. I spent several months searching for a true, verifiable, and correct Ford Model T. When I found this car, I knew it was the real deal and purchased it. Unfortunately, the office space didn't work out and I don't have a place for it in my new office. So, I've decided to offer it for sale. Here's what I know about the car: 1923 Ford Model T Roadster Engine #7614791 (Original and "matching numbers")Production Date: May of 1923 This Model T remained in one family for 51 years. It was purchased new from Randleman Motor Company in 1923 by Mary E. Lamb of Randleman, North Carolina. She drove the car for a number of years. When she quit driving, she gave the car to her son who drove it a few short years. He then gave it to his sister who drove this Model T only once a week to the nearby grocery store in Greensboro, NC. In 1974, she sold this vehicle to the local postman who delivered her mail. He kept the car in storage until Charles Griffin (also a NC resident) purchased it in November of 1976. Charles owned the car from 1976 until 2012. He had wanted a 1923 Model T for many years. Mr. Griffin’s father would share his childhood memories of riding in his parents’ 1923 Ford Model T. He would sit on the floorboard between his Mother’s knees as they drove down the roads of North Carolina in the mid 1920’s. Mr. Griffin kept the car for some time in storage and later in years did a nut and bolt restoration which was completed around 2002. To begin with, the car was in amazing original condition with no rust. All parts were either rebuilt or replaced with brand new 1923 Ford Model T parts that never left the factory box. All exterior and interior components are exact to 1923 Ford Model T specifications. He also rebuilt the engine and transmission. The top was replaced but the back window is still original. The car has a battery and magneto and a electric starter. The starter was an option in 1923. There is no odometer so the mileage is unknown. Mr. Griffin kept the Ford in his temperature controlled show room in Marshville NC until I purchased it in August 2012. Today the car looks exactly as it did the day Mary Lamb purchased it new in 1923. I am the fourth owner of the car; however, I have never registered it. In December 2012, I paid a well known Model T expert to drive almost 5 hours (one way) to my house and go through the car. We changed the oil, checked the brakes, tightened the fan belt, put four new champion plugs in, and adjusted the transmission bands. We also replaced the Ford cutout on the engine with a correct reproduction one with the Ford script. The car's timing was set, and it runs like a top! The paint/interior is nearly perfect and has got to be way better quality than anything Ford did in 1923. This is a blue chip museum quality Model T. I am offering the car with no reserve. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
