Vehicle Detail
You are viewing details on my 1974 Pinzgauer 712M. I will not bore you with details on what a Pinzgauer is as you probably already know or will figure it out in short order if you Google the term or look for videos of them in action on YouTube. This is my second Pinzgauer as I owned an extremely nice 710M previously. Both of my trucks have been exceptional and both have been maintained at a very high level. This 712M was built by Brian Mason of Expedition Imports, the premier custom builder of Pinzgauer in North America. EI built the custom 710Ks that were featured in the movie "Thor" and they have customers all over the world who value the unique service that they provide. There are countless little custom touches that have been added to this truck since I purchased it about 3 years ago. Many are very modest items (like the roof insulation) but they have been considered over the course of 7+ years of Pinzgauer ownership. These trucks are ideally suited to being customized by their owners for their own personal needs. If you're looking for a plain stock 712M, this truck isn't for you. This truck is driven regularly when the weather cooperates which is to say it does not get driven much in the summer here in Texas. Even when parked for a month at a time, it starts up easily. I keep it covered when not in use and of course the cover goes with it. The truck is equipped with nearly new (less than a couple of thousand miles) Falken Wild Peak A/T tires which are extremely effective off road. The spare has never been on the road and I have an 8th tire that is unused and you get that one as well. There are T-Lo's hub steps on the front wheel which help with access to the cab. I don't recall the origins of the rear step. The photos show the locked aluminum storage box mounted in place of one of the rear most driver's side fold down seat. That seat assembly is included in this sale as is the storage box. Speaking of seats, the front seats are from a Mercedes Benz Sprinter and are extremely comfortable and infinitely superior to the stock seats. If you require any additional photos of some specific detail, please drop me a line and I'll take those and send them off to you. Even though it is a used former military vehicle, this one is in exceptional condition. It gets used off road when I have the opportunity so it doesn't just sit in the driveway or get displayed at nearby car shows. If you want to blend in, this is not the car for you. If you don't want to answer questions, this is not the car for you. You will be stopped frequently with questions. After 7+ years owning Pinzgauers, my kids and all of their friends can now answer every conceivable question that has ever come up in a conversation. I would be comfortable driving this Pinzgauer any distance in its current condition. As far as repair, service or maintence items that the new owner might consider, it could use a tune-up but only as it has been awhile since one was last performed. The brakes are due for an adjustment too. The gas gauge works but there's a modest wiring issue that causes the needle to jump around ocasionally. This is minor and I might get inspired to fix it as my schedule allows. All of the factory tools are included as are the tire chains in their original heavy bags. The motor oil and gear oil are changed regularly. The truck is being sold as is, where is without any sort of warrantly implied or expressed. As I said at the beginning of this description, I presume that by reading this far in the description, you know what a Pinzgauer is and that questions about whether it floats (no), was it made in Germany (no), is it bullet proof (no) or am I some sort of doomsday prepper (no) can be be dispensed with. One last thing, here a link to a short YouTube video that one of my sons made when we were helping a friend recover his G-Wagen that had become stuck. Two Pinzgauers were required for the extraction. If you are looking for a bone stock original 712M, this is not the truck for you. However, if you are looking for a unique, versatile and extremely capable off road vehicle that turns heads everywhere it goes, you have found your truck. Thanks for looking!
