Vehicle Detail

Rare barn find. All original 1954 Chevrolet 3100 pickup. This is the 3 window model. Original owner lived in Council, Idaho. Second owner purchased in 1985 and kept it indoors until 2 months ago. He drove it infrequently for 20 years and started to restore it, but he is in his late 70's and sold it as you see it. This owner lived in New Meadows, Idaho and the truck now resides in Nampa, Idaho and is kept in a heated garage. This is an all original 54 pickup that has not been cut up or modified in any way. It runs and drives very well. The fuel in the tank and carb was bad so I had the tank flushed and the carb rebuilt. I needed a new fuel pump (the old one leaked) and it needed new spark plugs and a new battery. You cannot believe how it runs, starts, shifts, drives and stops. It does not smoke and has good compression in all cylinders. It runs smooth and has great power. Tranmission is very tight. Not sloppy at all. Clutch is good. Radiator is good. Believe everything to be completely original. Second owner started to do the body work and stripped the passenger rear fender and tailgate. The vehicle did sit outside for 2 months when he moved and did not have an indoor storage facility. The rust you see on the fender and tailgate are just surface rust. Original 235 inline 6. Has 3 speed manual on the tree. Original instrument and interior are amazing. Instrument look new, but are original. Original tan interior that looks spectacular. Even has the original AM radio and speaker. Odometer shows 7,915 miles, but assume it has turned over. The speedometer makes a squealing noise and shows 90 MPH at about 40 MPH so I disconnect the cable. It probably needs rebuilt. All the instruments do work including the lights. Has very good oil pressure both cold and hot! Original options include a radio, heater, cigarette lighter, 15" wheels and three on the tree shifter. It has a variable horn with a lever that controls the sound from low to high and it also has the stock horn. These were popular in the 60's. All glass is new except the vent windows. Front windshield is tinted. Brand new oak plank flooring and metal strips for the bed included in two boxes with all the correct hardware. The oak is pre-stained and the strips are black not polished.. Brand new radial tires and it has the spare tire carrier and cut out for the spare on the rear fender. Former owner stripped the rear passenger fender and did some body work on it. Also sanded parts of the tailgate. The cab and doors appear very straight and no rust that I can find except the passenger front fender and the driver cab corner and I have replacements for both. Overall interior is amazing. Exterior is very good, but needs the following...Passenger front fender has rust at bottom. Have an extra front fender with no rust or the rust could be cut out and replaced with new metal very easily. One cab corner has rust and I have a brand new cab corner for it. All new headliner in the box. The drivers side front fender has a dent that can be repaired. Running boards and spare tire carrier just sandblasted and powdercoated black. Comes with 4 boxes lots of extra parts taken out of another 1954 parts truck. Originally a dark green exterior. Has painted grille not chromed and the front of the grille does have a dent in it. Has front and rear painted bumpers and this truck is COMPLETE. I see nothing missing and this could be driven while restoring. It does need new window channel for both doors. It has a new roll of fender welting for the front and rear fenders. The wheels on the truck are 15' wheels. Three have the clips for hubcaps but 3 are the later model wheels. I am trying to find 2 more correct wheels for it. I do have 3 of the original hubcaps in the boxes of extras, but they need restored. To my knowledge EVERTHING is there to complete this truck to original. Low retail on this truck is $8,850, average retail is $16,800 and high retail is $39,400. Check out the one on eBay for $42,500 and the one on Auto Trader Classic for $84,000. The 1954 and early 1955 were a unique and highly collectible body style. I have it scheduled to have the body work done in January and intend to paint the body the original dark green with black fenders and running boards. Will sell as is or will price higher when it is painted. You will not believe how well this truck runs, drives, shifts and stops. Has a unique variable horn with a lever inside. Also has the stock horn that works. Lights and turn signals work. Engine runs super and is not a grease ball. Very clean! Transmission does leak some oil and I assume it needs gaskets and seals. Please call Kurt at (208)345-1400 or email me at kurt@weloveidaho.com if you want more info or photos. I will do my best to give you a 100% honest description of this pickup. I believe it to be a very straightforward restoration and it could be a daily driver with very little work. You will not be disappointed in this truck, it is exactly as represented.
