Their decades' long commitment to a common identity has resulted in a massive consumer base that knows it can ALWAYS find great looks, a power-drenched engine, a fun chassis and a simple but accommodating interior behind either a galloping horse or Chevrolet cross-flags. And it's because of that dogged dedication to being one thing for all people that car's like this 1967 Shelby GT350 tribute are even possible. With a slick '67 Mustang profile, a supercharged 4.6 liter SOHC V8, a modern Mustang chassis and a custom black interior, it mixes the best aesthetics of a first generation pony with the mechanical prowess of a fourth generation pony. If you're in the market for classic good looks and spectacular modern performance, your search is officially over! When the owner of this awesome '67 Mustang set his dream build in motion he wanted a solid foundation that could be transformed into one of the best all-around Shelby tributes on the planet; and after a few months of searching, he found part of the car you see here. I say part because, during a highly detailed reboot, this '67 Mustang's body was essentially grafted to a 2004 Mustang GT chassis. And, while I'm not certain the car's construction was literally that cut and dry, its straight body panels certainly hide many modern Mustang pieces. Once all that Ford hardware was tied together, a vivid combination of Shelby Blue paint and white Shelby racing stripes hit the car's solid metal faade to create a spectacular finish which plays exceptionally well on its classic Mustang profile. And the result is one razor-sharp GT350 tribute that presents great panel fitment, a mirror-like finish and a ton of visual appeal. It's obvious that Ford has always sweated the details on the Mustang. And when the original GT350 debuted, it added fuel to the muscle car fire by introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive design language ever created. At the front of this hot blue flame a forward-tilted intake hangs a pristine stainless grille, and an intricately detailed "SHELBY G.T.350" emblem, between a Shelby-style valence and modern halogen headlights. At the top of that intake, a scooped hood props bright stainless lanyards in front of modified SN-95 windshield wipers and like-new glass that's sealed by modern weatherstripping and framed by correct chrome drip rails. At the sides of that hood, "SHELBY G.T. 350" fender emblems and Shelby-style B-pillar scoops perfectly complement an SN-95 antenna, a traditional chrome mirror, familiar chrome door handles and a billet fuel filler. And the back of the car, a Shelby-style decklid and Shelby-style fender extensions hang over monochromatic tail lights, a detailed Cobra emblem, a body-matched bumper and clear reverse lamps. Pop this sweet looking Mustang's lightweight fiberglass hood and the car transforms from classic to state of the art in literally the blink of an eye. Looking completely natural between a pair of body-matched shock towers is a SOHC 'mod motor' which was donated by a generous 2004 Mustang GT. You see, the key to a great resto-mod is taking the virtues of a classic factory design and incorporating modern mechanical elements that are as stylish as they are seamless. And nowhere is that philosophy more evident than under this Shelby's bright blue hood. The long-time thoroughbred of Ford's performance car stables, this proven powerplant utilizes two camshafts, free-flowing heads, an aggressive cam profile and a rugged iron block to create an unbeatable combination of smooth cruising and spirited performance. Naturally the big engine comes outfitted with sensors, a fuel pump and an Engine Computer Module from its 2004 donor car. Before it was even dropped into its classic bay, a compact supercharger was seated over its heads. And finally, good sounding, great flowing ceramic coated headers were bolted up and clamped to a 2.5 inch true dual exhaust system. Twist the car's key and the smooth V8 rumbles to life, sending its bass notes through a pair of welded Flowmaster mufflers. Goose the block's throttle and the supercharger pumps pressure into the combustion chambers zinging the engine towards redline. Look around the bay's perimeter and you'll find a slew of aftermarket pieces, like chrome cam covers, Ford blue pulleys and a "Saleen" branded radiator tank, that transform factory vanilla into parking lot hot! In the spirit of original Shelby Mustangs, this GT350 tribute is all about maximizing performance and being as capable in the turns as it is on the straightaway. Behind the blown motor you'll find a stalwart Tremec 3550 5-speed that's connected to a rebuilt Ford 10 bolt rear end; both of which appear to be from the same 2004 Mustang GT donor car as the engine. At the front of that drivetrain, an aftermarket sub-frame hangs modern coil over shocks between sturdy tubular control arms, a thick sway bar and a power rack and pinion steering system, which also appears to be from the 2004 Mustang GT donor car. At the back of the drivetrain, a triangulated four link suspension utilizes tubular sub-frame connectors and a 2004 Ford Mustang GT sway bar to supply excellent grip. Stopping is a cinch thanks to a factory Ford four wheel disc brake system. Custom bent exhaust pipes flow from the previously noted headers to dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers, ensuring this lamb to lion's transformation sounds the part. And power is thrown to the pavement via 17 inch Ford alloy wheels which spin 215/45 Goodyear Eagle ST radials in front of 255/45 Goodyear Eagle F1 radials. Aesthetically, this Mustang's suspension is covered in a swath of satin black paint. And mechanically, every one of its many parts appears to be fully sorted and ready to hit the road. Peer inside this awesome '67 Shelby and you'll find a clean interior that is, like the rest of the car, an exceptional mix of both vintage and modern pieces. The seats, racing buckets up front and modern Mustang buckets in back, wear their covers well and feature firm padding that's probably spent most of its life holding trophies instead of people. Below those seats, like-new carpet is eerily reminiscent of the durable stuff used in modern Mustangs. Top dead center on that carpet is an SN-95 Mustang console which holds a traditional monochromatic shifter between a blue shift knob and a three pack of accessory gauges. At the front of the car, a peel-free SN-95 dash features a full layout of white-face gauges, snazzy billet controls for the climate system and a factory 6-disc, in-dash CD changer. At the sides of that dash, '67 Mustang door panels hang traditional handles, traditional armrests and big Audiopipe speakers below small pods with SN-95 power window and door lock switches. And above those door panels, a modern Mustang headliner frames a modern Mustang dome light and a thick black roll bar. Connecting the driver to the road is an SN-95 steering wheel that spins around a factory tilt steering column. And stowing the passenger's swag is a fully carpeted trunk which frames ample storage space behind big Ford Mach Audio speakers. The sale of this super cool Ford resto-mod includes an SCT flash tuner. With an authentic Shelby appearance and a modern Mustang feel, this GT350 combines the style and class of yesterday with some of the best performance technology of today.
