Vehicle Detail
1968 GTO Up for auction is a true California-built 1968 Pontiac GTO that started it’s life in Fremont, CA and has never left the state. Perfect example of a rust-free original VIN Model #42 Pontiac Goat. I purchased the car from the second owner and have enjoyed it for a while but now it’s time to put my money towards a new project that I have acquired so I’ve decided to put this beauty up for sale with NO RESERVE during probably the worst time of the year for selling classics :0) ..but then again what better Christmas gift to yourself then that muscle car you’ve always wanted as a child.. I’ve got a clean and clear California title in hand with current tags until June 2013. She’s ready to take that long drive towards her new home. . I’m going to be as honest about the GTO’s condition as I can be so the buyer is sure he’s getting exactly the car he or she bid on. I bought this 68’ a little over 2 years ago from the 2nd owner who did most of the rebuild on it. The car still has the 400ci engine, auto trans, and rear differential original from factory but were all rebuilt in 2007. Car drives and handles excellent at all speeds. Has electronic ignition so it starts up every time even if it's been sitting for weeks and it’s very reliable. I’ve taken it to Las Vegas which is about a 600 mile round trip and it made the trip without a hiccup. No oil leaks or mechanical issues of any kind. Has new Flowmaster dual exhaust system so sounds very beefy as well. Suspension, brakes, and power steering all work fine so it’s a very easy car to drive. The car has all original sheet metal including doors, fenders, quarter panels, trunk, roof, floors and frame rails. Car was repainted right when I bought it and it’s not a $5k paintjob but as you can see in the pictures it still looks very nice. Has a couple minor paint imperfections from driving over the years but nothing major. My plan was to disassemble the entire car and paint it back to factory Verdoro Green to make this a true matching #’s car but I never got around to doing it. The interior is in decent shape as well. Clean headliner and carpet, front cloth bucket seats, rear bench is vinyl (has one tear in bottom part) door panels are original and lower part that has carpet is worn off, dash is also original and has some cracks, has an aftermarket CD player and speakers (sounds great), clean steering wheel, center console, gauge cluster, ect.. All 4 windows go up and down fine, and both doors open and close perfect. Has an alarm system with power door locks and built in kill switch with 2 remotes. This is by no means a frame-off restoration, but just a nice unmolested 68 GTO that has been freshened up a bit with a drive-train rebuild, decent paint job, and some good care over the years. It can be enjoyed as is or used as a perfect candidate for someone looking to completely restore a 68 goat.. This is what I think the car still needs at this point, front parking lights installed (I just ordered new lenses so they are included with the car), missing exterior fender GTO emblems & nose Pontiac emblem, rocker molding were just professionally polished but haven’t been re-installed yet (needs $25 retainer kit), quarter window seals, and trunk GTO emblem. The previous owner also installed chrome hood scoops which are off a LeMans and not original to the GTO but I think they look good and stand out nicely. Car is available for inspection by any serious bidder during this auction so feel free to give me a call to set up an appointment (714) 586-0383 -Dave, leave a brief message if I don’t answer and I’ll call you right back. You can also text me. As all other classic cars it is being sold in AS IS condition with no warranty implied or expressed with this sale. Please ask questions if you are unsure of anything prior to bidding. Not really interested in any trades so please don’t ask. This is a NO RESERVE listing so the car will go to the highest bidder no matter what. View my feedback and bid with confidence. Thanks for viewing my listing and HAPPY BIDDING!!!
