Vehicle Detail

I've had this really cool truck for a long time, always wanted to put it back on the road. It has the Heavy Duty 289 you can tell by the cloverleaf, and comes with the original CARburaTOR as in Carter also pretty cool but it will need to be rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner who stated that the rear freeze plug started leaking so he parked it. I turn it over and have it partially dissassembled to see there are no issue's, but I was planning on doing gaskets and bearings and installing the Superhawk cam and Turbo just to hotrod it correctly for the era. This motor is easily capable of 300+HP with the right engine builder. All the parts that have been removed are in the bed wrapped up on a pallet, the engine is still in the engine bay attatched to the tranny, etc...It rolls around and the brakes do work. The seat definitely needs some attention, as does the headliner. Not a Transtar, says Studebaker on the dash, not a lower model, as it has both sun visors and armrests. 8'bed this one is a 1/2 ton. I tried researching it but Studebaker's are notorious for not keeping records on special order's or out of country vehicle's. I have the hood emblem, and I have the front bumper, slightly bent but fixable. The truck is in great shape bodywise, 2 small quarter size rust spots, floorboards are in great shape as is the bed. I believe the original colors were Ivory and Brown, judging by the interior. It comes with Black California plates, currently out of the DMV system, and a bill of sale. If you pay for the trailer rental and gas I can deliver it within reason. The passenger side window has cracks but still goes up and down, all other glass is good. It has a 10 bolt rearend which appears to be original? the steering is tight no play, the rims are jackman weld 16.5 solid rims Ok, I just added a few pic's to show you that this is no rust bucket, I did find one small patch above the passenger side door upper hinge which I put a pic of, drivers side is fine. The floorboards are solid with a little surface rust which comes off with a little elbow grease, yours not mine! As you can see the engine is dissassembled but easily put back together. There are no wear ridges in the piston bores, and I turn it over regularly with it sitting on top dead center right now, and the distributor is undisturbed. If you want to hotrod it, keep this motor! Do a little research, it was built to take up to 14lbs of boost and 5000rpm, many of these motors hit the dragstrips with high nickel blocks and forged cranks from the factory. Gasket set is only $150, of course on Ebay. The rest of the parts including modern alternator, are sitting on a pallet in the bed, under a tarp. I have pic's of the original seat, but it could use new foam and cover, the springs appear to all be intact. Happy bidding!
