Vehicle Detail
1930 Rolls Royce Boat Tail Roadster This car has been stored for decades, but fired right up and drove down the road! It will sell for $200,000. to $400,000. once restored. It is in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but I am not. 248-497-6900 Something to note:A very interesting car was sold last August at the Gooding and Company auction inPebble Beach. Athough there was much fanfare about the flashy red 1957 Ferrari that sold for a staggering $16,390,000, the elegant 1930 Rolls-Royce parked sedately at the back of the row was a diamond in the rough. The car was totally original and un-restored. Sitting in a garage in New York City, it had not seen the light of day for more than five decades. Rolls-Royce produced this car in it's Springfield, Massachusetts plant, the only time Roll-Royce cars were manufactured outside of the UK. The plant was in operation from 1921 to 1931. The completed chassiss' where sent to a coach builder to be fitted with a body and interior, a common practice at the time for high-end cars. The body on this car was created by Brewster and Company in New York City. It has a 95 HP, 7,668 cc, OHV 6-cylinder engine that was not in running condition at the time of the auction. This Phantom 1 Newmarket offered at the sale was a rare chance to see such a grand car in an all-natural, un-touched and preserved state. It did sell, fetching $99,000. Take a look at the slide show for a detailed look at this fabulous car.
