Up for sale is my 1980 Indy Pace Car Trans Am. I have only owned the vehicle for about three years now, but have decided to go another route. The car is a project car, as it needs body work and interior work. I had bought the car without a motor and put a Pontiac 400 in it, but spun a rod bearing. The block was taken to a professional engine builder and did not pass a pressure test, so the car is now being sold as a rolling chassis. This car has the big TH-400 transmission with heavy duty drive shaft yokes. The rearend was rebuild recently and now has 3.23 gears. The car has its factory 4-wheel disc brakes, hurst t-tops, B&M ratchet shifter and is an original Indy 500 Pace Car. There were only 5400 of these cars made, thats why this would make for a nice project car. The original interior was taken out and replaced by the previous owner. This included the original tach and speedometer, therefore an original miles can not be determined. Drop in your own motor and go. The rims were professionally restored by Restore a Muscle Car in Lincoln, NE and are worth about $1,000.00. The car does need new rear quarters, lower front fender patch panels, and floor boards.
