Vehicle Detail
1968 Triumph TR250 with Air Conditioning and Over Drive This Triumph has been extensively restored to be a good driver quality classic. It is not a concourse show car but very presentable and fun to drive. The overdrive and air conditioning make it a comfortable driver even in Florida summers. I will attempt to list all the parts that have been replaced with new reproductions or original NOS and will also list the items I believe need to be completed. I have several more photographs of the restoration process to show and prove what was done. A partial list from the ground up: New tires with 350 miles on them New Super Lite wheels with Triumph logo New Brakes front and rear New Brake master cylinder New Clutch master cylinder New Clutch slave cylinder and piping New Brake lines and hoses New Clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing New Front shocks original Armstrong lever dampers in the rear New springs front and rear New tie rod ends Correct Luggage rack. Not perfect but nice. Chrome is a bit thin but original. **NOS new frame with the latest at the time upgrades. Frame cleaned and powder coated. Sheet metal: The sheet metal items were purchased from Roadster Factory, Moss Motors or Victoria British except for a few NOS British Heritage parts I got from an estate in Canada. New front inner and outer fenders New rear inner and outer fenders New door skins New floor pan one side New sills and sill caps New sill mount brackets New rear center deck New rearward deck panels left and right (beside boot lid) New rear forward deck panels left and right New center boot pan (bottom of trunk where spare goes) New tail lamp housings left and right New splash panels left and right with gaskets New vent lid assembly New door post repair sections left and right Miscellaneous new items: New Windscreen New Windscreen gasket and trim New interior windscreen plastic trim pieces New wiper wheel box bezels New Visors New Dash Pad New Dash crash pad left New transmission cover New door panels from R.Factory with window scrapers New LH window regulator and tracks New R.Factory window cranks and inside door handle New reproduction front bumper, rear bumper rechromed at Space Coast Plating and is beautiful. New reproduction “bumper-lets” New Seat covers from UK vendor, vinyl with white piping New Seat membranes, webbing and foam padding Note: the original TR4/250 seats did not have adjustments for the back rest. I replaced them with TR6 seats which do adjust and have removable headrests. Much more comfortable and a bit safer. New custom leather wrapping on steering wheel, leather not rubber or similar. New Center console like Amco but reproduction New sound and heat reflective padding under carpet New headlamp gravel guards New Robbins soft top with zip out rear window New top gaskets all around from R. Factory Used tonneau cover comes with the car Electrical items: New washer and wiper switches (Not Clear Hooters) New main wiring harness from R.Factory which includes all dash lamps, sockets and connectors. $500.00 item alone New GM 65 AMP alternator with regulator. Needed for A/C Pertronix pointless ignition in distributor, new plugs and wires. Air Conditioning: Sanden compressor and condenser cooling fan properly relay wired and mounted. Evaporator and blower housing all inside cabin and controls work as they should. Can turn temperature up and down as well as fan speed. Works very well. The compressor runs on its own belt with idler pulley and does not run with water pump and alternator belt. This is an important detail. Overdrive: The over drive transmission was partially rebuilt with new pump and works with a gearshift button in a walnut shift knob and not original stem switch. Over drive works as it should. Differential: No work done on it as it is quiet and works properly. Paint: Valencia Blue period correct color but not original to this car. It is PPG enamel with etching primer professionally painted. The hood stripe is not paint but custom heavy decal of the exact correct size and dimensions. Exhaust: The exhaust manifold was changed to dual from original single and dual Monza exhaust installed. Not terribly loud but has a very nice growl. What it needs: the left front side marker housing needs to be re-chromed. In my opinion the rear body wiring harness should be replaced as there are several splices in the original one. This item is readily available. The panel behind the gas tank into the trunk is not there also readily available. I have the windscreen washer bottle and pump but have not installed them other than the wires are there. It isn’t pretty and probably should be replaced with a new one. The hoses to the washer sprayers are new and in place. What I have extra: I have extra parts which are optional for the winning bidder. The only cost would be in shipping if so desired. I will not sell them separately until after close of this auction. I have tubs of miscellaneous parts, some good some questionable and too many to list however available to buyer upon inspection. This includes an additional pair of Stromberg carburetors and I have a set of SU carbs which would need to be rebuilt. I will keep the SUs if not wanted. I have the original air cleaner. I have two 4 speed transmissions. They appear to be good but not tested. I have one IRS differential also appears good but not tested. I have one extra engine head complete with valves I have an extra TR250 engine. This engine is not a TR6 engine but has the STANPART number 308035 and a date casting of 9 6 67. This indicates it is pre TR6. If the winning bidder wants any or all of these items I will do what I can to put them on pallets for shipping but the cost to ship is the responsibility of the winning bidder. Winning bidder will also have to make the arrangements to transport. I have a file folder full of receipts and documents. Not everything I have bought for the car but most of it. The NOS frame under this car has improved gussets and end caps and is stronger than the original. I was very fortunate to find it and sadly for me I found it after I had finished extensive repair of the original rusted out frame, which went to recycler along with the old rusty sheet metal parts. The milage on the odometer is since rebuild as the actual milage is not known. To repeat, this is not a concourse show car it is my wife’s (teapotlady21) frequent driver. I have described it and what has been done as best I can but I recommend an inspection if at all possible. There is no expressed or implied warranty for this car, have to say that. The buyer is responsible for shipping or picking up the car and any extra parts desired. Any parts left behind are considered not part of the sale so please get everything you want the first time. I need the storage space. Please, please email me any questions and I will answer them as quickly as possible. I will also provide additional photos showing the reconstruction if you send me your email address as well as post more on the auction when I can. On Dec-06-12 at 11:28:02 PST, seller added the following information: The serial number on the extra engine is CC224E. The serial number on the engine in the car is CC6652E which is very close to the commission number of CD6693L and is most likely the one installed at factory. Spare is much earlier. On Dec-11-12 at 11:39:07 PST, seller added the following information: I was just reminded by the last owner that it is ANSA dual exhaust and not MONZA. Don't think it makes much difference but just for sake of accuracy. Certainly sounds good though and split manifold makes it breath better. On Dec-12-12 at 10:01:27 PST, seller added the following information: It was pointed out to me that the drivers door wasn't closed when I took the photo. It does close and latch properly. The frame was media blasted and powder coated in semi gloss black.
