Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an extremely rare authentic "XS29" 1968 Dodge Charger RT. What makes this RT so rare is the number of options on the vehicle and the fact that it is a true Triple Black Charger with the Red Transverse (Bumble Bee) stripe on the rear. Here is the list of options that came on the vehicle from the decoded fender tag: (I've made bold the more rare options) 1968 Dodge Charger R/T Fender Tag DecodedCAR: Dodge Charger R/T 2 Door Sports HardtopENGINE: 440cid 4-bbl HP V8TRANSMISSION: 3-Speed AutomaticTIRES: F70x14 Red Side Wall, Steel BeltedBUILD DATE: November 17.AXLE: 3.23 Sure GripINTERIOR: BlackPAINT: BlackSTRIPING: Red Transverse (Bumble-Bee) MOLDINGS:25: Drip Rail Mouldings30: Body Belt Mouldings78: Wheel Lip Mouldings ABC OPTIONS:A1: 26in RadiatorD9: Front Disc BrakesH1: Power BrakesK8: Power WindowsP6: Rear Seat SpeakerR0: AM 8-Track RadioS1: Air ConditioningT7: TachometerX1: Tinted Glass (all)Y6: Black Vinyl Top abc OPTIONS:a6: Consoleb4: Bucket Seatsh7: Fender or Hood Mounted Turn Signal Indicatorsm6: Driver's Outside Remote Operated Mirror I've been around a lot of Chargers and have never come across an RT with so many options...let alone a true Triple Black with the Red Bumble Bee Stripe. This is the vehicle that everyone clones their Charger to look like and you could have real thing. The car is in the middle of a restoration but comes with 95% of ALL parts that originally came on the vehicle. More specifics:I'm selling the vehicle because I've out grown my garage and need the funds to invest in other projects, so unfortunately this one must go. The vehicle has been in Colorado its entire life and has very little rust because of it. These B-bodies typically rust out in the frame rails, engine bay, etc if exposed to any amount of salt. The vehicle is not a numbers matching vehicle unfortunately. The transmission appears that it could be the original but the engine is a '66 440 HP, please see a picture of the badge below. The vehicle was under restoration when I purchased it and a lot of superficial rust it had has already been fixed. The quarter panels were completely redone by a professional body shop. There were patches installed on one side of the trunk and on both sides of the floor boards, rockers have already been replaced and in good shape, doors appear to be in descent shape, frame/K-member are in excellent shape, the hood and trunk lid all still have factory edges, the car appears to never had been wrecked, is extremely straight, and all numbers throughout the body match up. All the original tinted glass is in the car, the interior is all there but needs to be redone. A lot of the heavy work has already been on the vehicle, it really just needs to be cleaned up, painted, assembled, install engine/tranny, and your're good to go. What it needs:-Some minor welding of some body patches-Clean up around current welds-Fix two small holes around the rear window-Redo Interior-Go through Engine/Tranny-Paint/Striping-Assemble The good about its current condition:-No major rust (already been addressed, only surface rust remains)-Frame rails in good shape, very strong-95% of the vehicle is there-Extremely Rare I've included a picture below of what the car was originally, so there's no question as to what a Triple Black w/ the Red Bumble Bee Striping looks like. Please email me with any questions you may have, you must also contact me prior to bidding if you have a feedback rating of less than 3. NO SCAMS!!! To avoid everyone emailing me to ask what my reserve is set at I'll go ahead and tell you that the reserve is set at $12,500. The winning bidder is required to provide a downpayment of $300 to my paypal account within 24 hours of the auction ending. The remaining balance is to be paid in cash, money order, or cashier's check. The vehicle and its title will not be released until all money is in hand and all payments have cleared...period! I'm located in Denver, CO and can show the vehicle if an appointment is made. Again, please ask me any questions you may have, I want to be as open and honest about the vehicle as possible. I have a few additional pictures if you email me I'll send them to you. I'll also try to take a few more this weekend and post them on ebay. The vehicle is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle sells locally. I'm also posting a "buy it now" option on the vehicle at $18,500. FYI, I guess Ebay cancels the "buy it now" option once the reserve of $12,500 is met. I didn't know that before and a guy ended up having to wait an additional 5 days to secure the vehicle. Happy Bidding!!!! On Dec-05-12 at 13:54:03 PST, seller added the following information: Car would make an excellent high optioned new HEMI/6-Speed Car. Per people's request here is a link to additional pictures on photobucket: http://s1208.beta.photobucket.com/user/pringle70/library/1968%20Dodge%20Charger%20RT%20Triple%20Black FYI, I deflated the front tires to keep someone from trying to steal it and roll it away, all the tires hold air.On Dec-07-12 at 08:47:28 PST, seller added the following information: Hello Everyone, I would really like for this vehicle to sell quickly and before any major snow storms hit the Denver area, since it's temporarily being stored outside and would make it more difficult for me to sell. For this reason I have lowered the reserve to $11,000 from the original $12,500. I hope this encourages more bidding. This really is an extremely straight vehicle with great lines. Keep the questions coming as theres been some terrific back and forth so far with the interested buyers. I also hope to have additional pictures up on the vehicle either late today or tomorrow. Thanks! On Dec-08-12 at 12:09:51 PST, seller added the following information: As promised here are more pictures and more details about the vehicle. As I said earlier I've run out of room at my shop and have had to relocate the vehicle to a temporary storage area. While moving the vehicle I took additional pictures which I believe are a much better example of the condition of the vehicles body. I also wanted to inform you all that the rear valance will need to be replaced since it has quite a bit or fiberglass. I also added more pictures of the engine, seat frames, a/c, components, transmission, lights, etc. Please keep the questions coming, I'm lowering the reserve once again to $10,500 because I hate having to store the vehicle. Good luck bidding!!!! On Dec-11-12 at 15:42:47 PST, seller added the following information: Ok, I've received a lot of questions regarding what parts are all inside the vehicle and additional requests for pictures of specific areas. Here are all the additional pictures I've been asked to provide. I was able to find almost all the trim for the entire include (with whats currently on and off the vehicle) all in all the trim is in really good condition. I also found more of the window operaters for the power windows, more engine parts, took pics of the bumpers (also in good shape). Enjoy the pics...these are likely the last pictures I'll be able to provide before the end of the auction. If you'd like you can also contact me at 303-five four 7 - two one 75, my name is Paul. HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!!!!
