This 1969 Ford Ranchero Rio Grande has been a California car its whole life. Although it runs, drives and could be a “daily driver with little effort, I am selling it as a restoration vehicle. The "Rio Grande" was a very rare (approx 316 produced) trim level that was only available in 1969 as a way to boost Ranchero sales mid year. There are many differences in the Rio Grande model but my favorite item is the chrome "bulls head" badge on the door posts on both sides. The bed rails are a close second. For you Ranchero fans this is the most desirable, lowest production Ranchero made !! This Ranchero has Front Disc Brakes, GT Style Wheels, Sport Mirrors, Hood Scoop and Rare Factory Side Rails. Original Owner’s Manual and Warranty booklet as well as State Registrations back to 1972 and 2 sets of keys comes with vehicle Body-EXTREMELY straight, doors straight, all panels, door, hood and tailgate line up perfectly ! Only imperfections are 1 small dent on Right Front Fender. Only rust other than surface are very small, less than palm of my hand behind both rear fenders. It is just starting to bubble paint and I cannot poke through metal w/ icepick. Paint- The red paint appears to be original and although faded will buff out easily for “daily driver”. There is no color code stamped in the Data plate which I thought was odd. There are small signs of what appears to be an orange primer. Question- would it have been left blank if a special color was ordered, ie orange? If it is a respray the molding was taken off as I can see no signs of overspray. Interior- All there but in need of new carpet, upholstery etc. Chrome- 100% All there ( a lot on Ranchero’s) and in very good condition. Minor pitting on a few small chrome pieces but nothing compared to back East cars. All chrome is fastened securely. Electrical- All major electrical works however heater cables are frozen and will need to be replaced. Mechanical- 351 W engine runs but smokes a little upon start up. FMX transmission shifts in all gears. Differential has no unusual noises. VIN# 9A48H260644 Body-66B Color- Nothing stamped here Trim-5A Date-XZF DSO-722552 Axle-6 Trans-X There is NO reserve. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE On Dec-10-12 at 18:37:41 PST, seller added the following information: 12/10/12-Notes -The California license plates shown are not part of the auction and do not go with the car. -2 of the tires in the picture do not hold air so i replaced the entire set with a set of used tires i had that are close n size but a little lower profile. -I believe i listed the engine as a 351W but people have written in and said this is a 351C engine. This does make sense as i have seen FMX transmissions with 351C engines before but i did not think the 351C was available in 1969. A Ford Ranchero fan explained this to me as these "Rio Grande" special model Ranchero's were mid year productions to get people interested in the 1970 model year cars so they were made available with 351C engines. I do not profess to know everything about Fords but obviously there are folks out there that do thank goodness. For what it's worth the same individual told me the fact that it is a 351C makes it even more rare. -The engine air cleaner, original jack, spare tire and tire iron come with this car/auction but are not pictured.
