Vehicle Detail

1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 Convertible Before the 442 came the infamous Oldsmobile lines of the Jetstar, Starfire, Dynamic, and Super 88. This is a prime opportunity to own an extremely rare full size collectible classic car convertible. Honestly! When was the last time you even saw a Jetstar 88 let alone an original factory red Jetstar 88 convertible?? They all seemed to have simply vanished into thin air! Only 3903 of these classic drop tops were made 48 years ago, and only the Lord knows how many survived. Maybe your Dad had one, or maybe you saw one cruising around your high school back in the day. Odds are you haven't seen one in decades. Well, My Dad was the cool Dad on the block, and he did have one. I remembered cruising around in that beauty, and we were always the spectacle of the neighborhood. I spotted this one up for sale, and I couldn't help myself. I obtained this classic Olds from an elderly couple with no rust on the body whatsoever. They were the second owner and assured me that the mileage is correct at just over 62,000 miles. They always kept it tucked away in their garage. In recent years they only took it out for local cruise nights during the summer months. They said when their children were younger they used to use it for the local drive-in movie theaters, and for church on Sundays. It was never used as their primary mode of transportation. They never used it for anything but pleasure cruising, thus keeping the mileage at a minimum. In fact, they rarely drove this car at all anymore, so when I spotted this red beauty I took advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. The interior side panels, and both the front and the rear seats were all re-upholstered less than 5 years ago including new carpeting. New floor mats were just added. The dash board is in very nice condition with no cracking, and has the original AM radio that sounds clear, and still plays. This Jetfire Rocket V8 engine was detailed, and puts out a powerful factory rated 290 horsepower. This engine fires right up, and purrs like a kitten. You can barely hear it run! The Jetaway transmission shifts smooth as a summer breeze. You can really tell this old convertible was always well taken care of. The front brakes were recently replaced to help this land cruiser stop better. This sweet old classic can be enjoyed in comfort for many years to come. The convertible top was also replaced at the time of the interior, so being garage kept all year round allowed it to stay in this nice condition. The top goes up and down like butter, and has a rear glass window. Most of these cars had plastic rear windows that would crack and yellow. Naturally when the top is down the rear window is not a factor, but it sure is nice to have a crystal clear glass window when the top is up. The original paint was starting to fade, so all of the emblems and the stainless steel moldings all along both sides of the car were removed prior to paint. The entire body was then thoroughly stripped down to bare metal. This car was ordered brand new from the factory in Holiday Red. The body was prepped, primed, blocked, and sealed using the best materials available. It was then painted in the factory original Holiday red, and buried in four coats of premium quality clear coat for that factory showroom shine. As seen in the pictures this paint work looks like glass, and the body is virtually laser straight! Take a close look at the pictures and you'll see all of the reflections, such as the trees in the hood. You can even see the clouds in the upper flared portion of the quarter panel pictures if you look closely. The paint looks as good up close in person as it does in all of these pictures. Plus, all of the chrome and stainless steel trim on this car is in nice drivers quality condition or better. The tires are raised white lettered Firestone Firehawk SS radials with good tread on SuperStock II wheels. The wheels were painted to match the color of the body for that sporty look with all new chrome lug nuts. All the wheels have all four beauty trim rings, and all four bolt on center caps. The nicely detailed trunk has been coated with factory AC Delco black and aqua spatter spray, and was then treated to a new trunk mat. The trunk still even has the original side, hinge, and spare tire cardboard cut-outs. Those usually disappeared, so that showed me how original and in tact this car really is. The trunk carries a full size SuperStock II spare with the original jack and crow bar. If there should happen to be a mishap on the road, with a quick tire change you are back on the road looking complete in minutes. The floors, trunk pan, and frame are all in surprisingly good condition for a car nearing a half of century in age. This incredible Holiday red Oldsmobile is sure to be a hit at any local car show or cruise night. Time to fill up your mantle with trophies! I have a passion for bringing back the original beauty to rare collector cars. What you see is exactly what you get! These cars have consistently shown to increase in value. People consider these cars to be rolling works of art! The latest Nada Classic Car Guide has the 1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 Convertible listed at $54,510 in high condition, $34,040 in average condition, and $15,755 in the lowest condition. I have to say in my opinion this car is in much better than average condition. Anyone can look up these values on-line at the Nada website. This is a perfect time to put your money to work for you, and enjoy all of the hard work that went into this classic collector convertible. Please ask as many questions as you like. They will all be answered in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. I want any potential buyer to be as knowledgeable as possible before placing a bid if there is something they feel I may have missed. A great deal of time, money, and effort went into this car for the next owner to enjoy for many years to come. Please have all of your funds in order prior to placing your bids. This cool old classic convertible is being offered at "No Reserve" and will sell to the highest bidder on Sunday evening. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
