Up for auction is a classic 1981 Honda Civic hatchback (1.3L CVCC) Before bidding please read this entire description!!! As you can see from the pictures the car does have some rust spots on the hatch and the body is not in excellent shape. I would say that for its age the interior and exterior are in decent shape though. Most of these cars are beat up, but this one just has a few imperfections here and there. I drove this car through college and it got me at least 42mpg in the city! I bought the car from a Honda mechanic from CA who took very good care of it (I believe he was the original owner) I purchased it for the sole purpose of getting good gas mileage. It has no AC and it's the manual 4-speed transmission (transmission is in excellent shape) The car blew a head gasket in 2009 and sat for a few months. When I was able to save up money to have it fixed I had the head removed and rebuilt by a local machine shop. After re-installing the head the car never ran right again. I was told it was due to an intake manifold gasket so I spent an entire day replacing the gasket and fixed the vacuum leak, but after all of that work it still didn't run correctly. I believe the car has low compression or something else that's causing it to run bad as it seems to be running on only 3 cylinders. I would put more money into the car but I have no use for it anymore and I don't want to see it rust away behind my garage. I love this car which is why I've held onto it so long, but I just can't stand to see it sit any longer. It's simply taking up space and I know that there's someone else out there that will appreciate it more than me. I am not sure if the car has 71000 or 171000 miles as the odometer only displays 5 digits. With that being said, this car will have to be towed as it is not in good enough running condition to drive on the road. I've seen these classic civics sell for $3000+ in good running condition so this could be a good opportunity for someone who has the time and money to fix the engine and sell the car or keep it for a great daily driving gas sipper. The car is dirty as its been sitting for a couple years and I just don't have the time to wash it for better pictures. I will not ship this car but can deliver within 100 miles for a fee.
