Vehicle Detail

My dad bought this bike off the showroom floor in 1970 and it was his pride and joy. I grew up in Charleviox Mi and my dad worked for the post office most of his life. He broke out his Truimph every spring and road it to work, about a 1 mile ride, everyday all summer long. He always came home for lunch. I can remember the distinct sound of the bike coming from about a block away and knowing my dad was almost home. Which was very beneficial if my 3 brothers and I were doing something we weren't suppose to be doing and scrambling before our dad pulled in the driveway. He was always taking us kids for a ride around the town and lakes and I had melted many a shoes on the tailpipe. I had always had a love for this motorcycle because I knew how much it meant to my dad and it is such a "sweet" looking bike. This is actually a one owner bike but it did have to be titled in my name because my dad passed in January last year and to sell it I had to do this. Clear title. This Vintage 1970 Truimph Trophy 250 TR25W is a engine/gearbox unit of 249 c.c. Dry weight of 285 lbs. The single air cooled cylinder is of aluminuim alloy with an austenitic iron liner. Push rod operated overhead valves are used. The engine is lubricated under pressure by a double gear pump with a non-return valve from a 4 pint oil tank, the oil draining to the bottom of the crankcase where it is scavenged though a strainer by the second part of the pump to the tank. The rocker gear is lubricated by a bleed off the oil return pipe at the crankcase. The primary drive is by Duplex chain and four-plate clutch contained in an oil batch chaincase. It was last plated in 1977 and had subsequently had not been driven for many years. He had passed it on to me in 1991. My husband at the time had taken it in to Northwest Motorcycle Shop and had the bike and engine restored and tuned up to tip top condition. Things like pistons, rings, gears, seals and more, too numerous to list (I don't know the technical verbiage, but it cost us about $1000 at that time.) I have the original servicing invoicing of all work that has been done. Too my dismay, I could not reach the ground well enough to handle the bike. I was very disappointed, so again the Truimph sat in indoor storage with no love or attention for the next 20 years, man how time flies!! I would now love to see this awesome vintage bike get the respect, love and attention it deserves and live it's legacy with a new proud owner. I have just had the bike gone through to have it back in smooth running condition. Tank and carburetor cleaned out , new gas lines, tune-up and timing by Kick Start Motorcycles here in Kingsley. I've been told by reputable, knowledgeable people that this is a respectable Class "A" survivor status motorcycle. I purchased a new battery, oil and gearbox oil change, new spark plug. Servicing to running order. I have the original owners handbook, a mirror for the other side (not pictured, just found) I am aware the traditional emblems are missing from the gas tank and the black pads, these may be purchased and restored through varies avenues by the buyer. Unsure what happened there. All the fun in restoring the way you would like the bike to look. Much information can be found on the internet about these awesome nostalgic vintage bikes.
