Vehicle Detail
Well, it is time to sell my 2000 Spyder. I've had this car since 2005, when my original car that I bought new off the showroom floor was totaled on the Dragon. I recently purchased a very low-mileage 2001 in preparation for my widebody project. The Good:excellent body and paint: There's a couple of dings on the sides from parking lot visits. The paint is in excellent condition as the car has been mostly garage kept all its life. I recently had the front end painted to fix rock chips and lovebug damage. This is a 12-year-old California-Florida car. Also, the headlights are crystal-clear and without marks. The wheels are in very good condition with a small area of rash on one wheel. There are a couple of spots where the paint has started to bubble, but it's barely noticeable. I had the windshield replaced about a year ago due to a rock thrown from a semi truck on the expressway.2003 engine: I bought the car with the original 2000 engine in it at approximately 58k miles. The engine developed rod knock due to oil starvation (well-known malady of 2000-02 engines) and it was replaced with a pre-owned 2003 engine from a 2zz swap in 2008. The 2003 engine is very strong, burns minimal oil, and has approximately 110k miles on it (avg 11k yearly). He also put in a slightly longer 5th gear in the transmission which lowers the RPM in 5th gear for increased fuel efficiency and quietness. The cats have been gutted. A lightweight flywheel was also installed for a little more horsepower and much better response on acceleration. There is also an Injen Cold Air Intake. The battery was replaced earlier this year.58k mile suspension: When I bought the car in 2005, I had a new Sportivo suspension kit installed. I bought the 2001 about five weeks ago and it only had 58,000 miles on her. Being that the Sportivo is very expensive, I had my local shop switch the suspensions between the two cars, so this car has 58k mile springs, struts, and sway bars. It is very, very solid, and there are no squeaks or rattles. It truly drives as a new car. It has installed a Cusco front sway bar to plant the rear end.brand-new tires: The stock rims that came with my new car had less than ideal tires on them, so I had installed a brand-new set of Yokohama S-Drives in the correct staggered sizes. I also had the car aligned, and the oil changed.interior: Leather seats with custom MR2 Spyder logo sewn into the headrests, upgraded stereo, with storage bin underneath, and it's wired for speakers in the rear bins. A subwoofer is installed, as well. A B&M short shifter allows you to shift quickly and it has a solid feel. The air-conditioning is ice-cold (important to have in Florida).accessories: There is a spoilers.com TRD-style rear spoiler with integrated stop light, and very rare Toyota OEM mudflaps which are color-coded to the body paint. The instrument panel is a custom silver template developed by an enthusiast in Europe.dealer-maintained: I've had this car maintained by the dealer except for some oil changes. Full dealer history is available upon request. The CARFAX report is also available, and will show a rear fender repair from the previous owner. The area looks stock with matched paint.Things that may need attention:The top is original, and there are a couple of patched spots from holes that developed over the years. It is watertight - even through the hurricanes we had come through. I used Griots Vinyl Care and 303 Protectorant on it since 2005.The carpet is in overall great condition, except for a wear spot on the driver's side. I have a full carpet set to go with the car for replacement. On the driver's seat, there is a worn area on the side bolster. I'll be happy to speak with any serious buyers. Pickup or ship from Central Florida. If you come to Florida, I could probably arrange some Disney or Universal tickets and lodging while you're here. You can see a high-resolution flash-slideshow here: http://spyderchat.com/spyder/spyder.swf The title is clear, no lien, and is immediately available during business hours. On Dec-01-12 at 18:12:50 PST, seller added the following information: CLARIFICATION: The statement, "There are a couple of spots where the paint has started to bubble, but it's barely noticeable." is applicable to the wheels, and NOT the paint on the body of the car.
