Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare 1983 Mercedes Benz 380SE AMG with the full factory original AMG body kit. It only has 118,888 miles all original. This model was a European Model of the 380SE and was never sold here. This means it has options that were not offered on the 380se sold to US Customers. It has heated seats, (that still work very well) manual lumbar adjustments on the front seats, Adjustable headlights and Euro style bumpers.. It also has the Very rare and sought after Original AMG Body Kit and Hub Cap. It has it's original Becker radio with type. This is the multi-geographical radio that work for different types of signals throughout the world. The radio works great and is nice and clear it picks up US channels perfectly. All the power options work great including power seats, power windows, power sunroof, lights, wipers and heat. The car has been in the same family since new. It was imported by this family and when the father who bought it in Germany passed away it was then owned by his sun. The last name on the import sticker in the door Matches the title. Its such a cool added historical fact to find a Euro Model that was imported and kept by the same family its whole life. It has a clear and clean Illinois Title. The car has just had major work done including cleaning of the injectors, cleaning of the guide rails, setting timing (has double timing chain) and lots of tuning and tweaking of all the systems and engine. Also all new fluids. All this was done by one of the most respected German import shops in Chicagoland. The suspension was all replaced not that long ago either. The car rides better then the US 380se and feels so much more agile and smooth then the US ones. The car runs so smooth and great the engine is quite with no noises. It runs ice cold you car park and let it run for an hour sitting it still stay nice and cool. The transmission works ok in my opinion it shifts a bit late a bit to high on the rpm's about 500- 800 higher then normally. But it does not drop or slip. I think it may need a new shift relay or some adjustment. But it does have all its gears and is very drive-able I'm just disclosing every little detail I know about the car. The exterior is very rare it has the European lights and bumpers that look so much cleaner then the US models. But the true ultra rare feature is the original AMG body kit on the car. It still even has the original European hubcaps on it. It is about impossible to find a car with this AMG work on it especially with the history of this 380se. Everywhere this car goes people ask about it and take pictures. The paint is still bright and has a great shine. There are a few very small spots of surface rust in a few lower spots of the car. The few spots there are are strictly just surface rust and most are still below the paint. I took pictures of the few spots so everyone interested can see. The underside of the car is great and there is no rot or rust at all. the interior is clean and bright with no tears or rips. the wood is not cracked nor is the dash or door panels. It is a light grey color, Mercedes now calls it ash color so it is amazing how clean it is. It shows how babied and loved this car has been. It has not been detailed or cleaned at call for the pictures so this is how clean it always is! Even the carpet is still great. Headliner is flawless and stain and rip free too. I have tried to describe the 380SE AMG to the best of my abilities. This will make someone a amazing collectors car and toy. It is so rare I would really doubt you'll see another on the road especially in the US. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thank you. On Nov-25-12 at 19:33:42 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a few questions if I ever had the Mercedes 380SE AMG appraised. I have never had a offical quote but according to The Collector Car Price Guide this car in flawless musemim quality shape would be 23,000. Now while I wish my 380SE was worth that as I describes above my car is not flawless. So Based on the book values and descriptions I would say this car would be between 6800-10,300. Those are the collector guide's numbers not mine and I do have it priced lower then that but at the same time I'm not going to just give this 380SE away. There is nothing else like it out there and in 1983 the 380SE wasn t even sold in USA not even in non AMG form. All that came here was the 380SEL. So this is a rare car indeed. Also, Thank you who has posted compliments about the car too.
