Vehicle Detail

Here is a chance to own a rare car, whose classic distinctive Jaguar look, flows from the legendary designer Sir William Lyons, a co-founder of Jaguar Cars Limited. The V12 was an engineering masterpiece which took several years to develop. It was capable of doing 150 mph. The XJ12 had a very limited production run in the 1990's. There just aren’t many of them available. When I purchased the car, in 1996, from the original owner it had under 10,000 miles on it. I followed the Jaguar maintenance schedule and have all the service records going back to 2003. The oil and oil filter were changed and a lube job was usually done every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. The engine is in excellent shape. It is fun to drive with power to spare. I drove it at least once a week until August of this year. At that time the alternator failed and the car no longer runs. The car has traveled under 1,000 miles after passing the California smog test on the first try. I was planning to restore the Jag but I have moved to a condo and have no place to store it. The body has no rust but it does need to be painted.. There is one small ding on the right rear fender and the sun roof motor needs repair. The cruise control does not work. The seats show signs of wear. The Jag does have four good Pirelli tires. This car is sold as is, where is, with no warranties implied. At this time the car does not run. The sale is final. The car must be removed within 7 days of the auction close. For several weeks the alternator would make a loud noise and not charge the battery. After a few minutes the noise would stop and it would work just fine. I checked with my mechanic and he said I needed a new alternator. The last time I drove it I was coming home from the office at night with the headlights on. The alternator was not working and made a very loud noise that would not stop. I turned the engine off when I got home. I tried to start it again but the battery was dead. The battery was still dead the next day. I assume the car will run with a new alternator. The car has been sitting three months. I recently tried to charge the battery but it would not take a charge.
