Up for auction is a nice 1971 Honda SL175 for restoration or for use as a parts bike. Partial amateur restoration has been done to most of bike. The gas tank and seat have not been improved at this time. Gas tank has rust inside and some JB weld on outside near to pet cock. Tank appears solid enough to be made usable but I never put any gas into tank to check for leaks. I had planned to continue the restoration but have recently purchased a Honda 150 Benly and need room in the garage so this one needs to go. Original engine on this bike was stuck so I bought a used lower engine and used cylinder off E-Bay. I honed the cylinders and installed new first oversize pistons and rings. I used the origonal head and valves. Motor turns freely with good compression--new rings will need to be run in for improved compression. I set timing as close as I could by point opening and timing mark on rotor. Engine has spark at both plugs. Carburetors needed cleaning which I did but probably need more cleaning or rebuild kits. I put two small plastic bottles on as temp. fuel tanks and have tried to start the engine. I have not yet gotten it to start but I think it is pretty close. I stopped working on this project to do some other projects so I really havn't spent much time trying to get it started. I also noticed that there is oil present in the rotor side of the engine which I do not think is correct. Possibly an oil seal needs to be replaced?? The seat pan is rusty but appears solid and should be restorable. Muffler and chrome shield are in fair condition. Milage on this bike is just over 3500 miles and the bike is in good condition considering it's age. Needs some TLC and should be a good runnig bike that will go up in value if maintained. Or if you need parts this is a complete bike with good usable parts. I will include the original stuck motor if you want it. I also have the engine covers that are not on the bike at this time. Wiring appears mostly complete but I'm sure will need some sorting out. Do not have any keys to this bike. Bike came from south east Georgia and there is a sticker under the seat with the dates 1976-1977. I bought this bike with full intentions to restore but just simply have too many projects and too many bikes--my true love is 60's vintage Hondas and I just bought another one. These bikes are hard to find in the South--I will help load the bike if you arrange a shipper or it is available for pick up in Mississippi. Please look at photos closely--it is a NON-RUNNING bike. Also NO TITLE--BILL OF SALE ONLY--E-bay does not have this option listed so I had to pick Clear Title---THERE IS NO TITLE. I have tried to describe the bike as honestly as possible--my primary desire is that a buyer knows what they are getting and will be happy with the purchase. I am easy to work with and will answer any questions that I can. Reserve is very reasonable just to be sure I don't give this bike away. I may list this bike locally and if it sells the auction will end. Buyer to arrange and pay for all shipping. These parts are available on E-Bay. Just wanted to clarify.
