Vehicle Detail

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>> This wonderful 1953 MG TD showcases an older, late 1970's restoration which means that only authentic and original parts were used. The car represents a well maintained restoration that still offers excellent drive characteristics! It has remained in my family from 1977 through present. Nothing on this car has been altered from original right down to the correct Tecalemit canister style oil filter, dual SU carburetors, and more. All body and engine tags are clearly present and unaltered making this original example a genuine driver investment! It comes with average chrome. The grill and windshield surround remain completely original. Only subtle patina in the form of "orange-peel" paint over most of the exterior will be noted, and new radial tires and stainless exhaust system make it ready to be driven immediately! It starts and stops with perfect ease and this TD goes through the gears in confidence along with excellent clutch feel! This beautiful 1953 MGTD roadster comes finished in White over Red with matching white soft top. Powered by its original, number’s matching 1250cc straight 4 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Features include original leather covered dash, original steering wheel, correct Jaeger gauges along, electric wipers (disconnected), 15” disc wheels with polished chrome center caps and more. This car was purchased by my father in 1977. A friend of my father purchased this car, another TD and a TF in California in the mid 70"s. In or around 1977 my father (now deceased) did a fairly extensive, ground up restoration to include the following.Complete engine overhaul.Partial chassis-off clean and paint.Complete body re-paint. Original color was green (if memory serves).Complete interior re-upholstery.Complete new carpet installation.Replacement of most (if not all) rubber body trim.Complete instrumentation rebuild (tach needs attention). The car has been driven less than 3500 (approx) since the restoration. Almost all of these miles were driven between the years of 1977 and 1986. The car has been covered and garage kept since 1977. The car has NEVER been exposed to rain as long as it has been in our family (since 1977). Other than a few spots of very-limited surface type rust there is no rust on the car. I have inspected as much of the wooden parts as are visible and have found NO rot or decay. In order to make the car road worthy and ready to sell the following work has been completed within the last 30 days.Complete fuel tank clean and seal.Replaced fuel pump. Original pumps works intermittently and will go with car.Installed complete polished stainless steel exhaust system.Complete brake system rebuild to include master cylinder.New radial tires. The following items should be noted.Rear bumper chrome is poor.Overall paint condition is rated at 6. Orange-peel is present over 50% of exterior.Overall chrome is rated 7.Engine smokes slightly at start-up and after longer idle period. Does not seem to smoke at higher RPM.Tachometer is not connected, though it was rebuilt in 1977.Wiper motor is not connected though it may be functional.Temp Gauge does not seem to be functioning.Slight tear in back of driver side seat.Lights work intermittently. Suspect switch needs attention. Please bid with confidence. This a GREAT car that I really hate to part with. Family demands call for more garage space and my wife is making me sell it. Bid on this car ONLY if you are serious and prepared to buy. There is NO RESERVE, and unless it sells locally prior to the end of this auction the final bidder will be expected to honor his bid and complete the purchase. This car is listed for local sell and I reserve the right to cancel this auction if the car sells locally.
