Vehicle Detail
1961 Triumph tr6r r. This is a numbers matching bike thats covered 93 miles since having a complete engine rebuild. The bike runs perfectly and is still being broken in, the bike was completely gone through and all gaskets seals and bearings were replaced throughout. The paint is perfect with the exception of one chip on the leading edge of the front fender and a scratch at the far end of the rear. There is a couple of spots of touch up paint on the tail light housing and forks, Im being extremely picky and its hard to notice these unless the light catchess it just right. There is also a tiny ding under the right knee pad, again hardly noticeable. The bike has all the correct parts, Lucas competition magnet, headlight, etc. The only thing in know to be incorrect is the speedo, it is a smiths thats been rebuilt but I believe it came of a 64 model. The bike is currently fitted with a mikuni carb, the original rebuilt amal monoblock and air cleaner will come with it. The chrome is all excellent, original rims have been relaced with Buchanan spokes, new wheel bearings installed. The pictures speak for themselves, the 61 tr6 had the improved/stronger steering head to prevent the frame from cracking. Triumph made approx 1200 tr6 r's in 61, many were used for desert racing so who knows how many survived. This is also the same model/year Triumph that Bud Ekins (Steve Mcqueen's stunt double) used to jump the fence in the movie the Great Escape; it doesn't get any cooler than that! I bought this bike with intention of using it as my daily rider but I worry too much about scrathing or denting it. Its as good as any other bike Ive seen outside of a museum, I'll stick to riding my OIF bonnie. Please ask any questions, I'm no expert but will answer them the best I can. Bike has a clear California title. I will help with shipping in so far as dropping at forward air in long beach (free of charge) or being available for your shipper to pick it up. International bidders welcome as long as they have over 25 positive feedback.
