Vehicle Detail
I have LOWERED the buy it now price but raised the reserve price. Because...this is a relisting from last month. I had several bids above my previous reserve price and was happy the car was going to be sold. On October 24th in the last minute of bidding, a fake bidder with a 0 rating on a brand new Ebay account and an out of the country email address jumped in with the high bid. It takes a minimum of 8 days to get Ebay to release you from a fraudulent seller, which they have now done, so here is the car again.I intend to lower the reserve price once I am assured of valid bids, but the buy it now price is still a great deal. I also received many Q's about the longitude structure. So I went back and took closeups of both Longs. This is a stock , pre-smog and pre-heavy bumper, 1973 Porsche 914 with the factory original 100hp 2.0 liter Fuel injected 4 cylinder motor. I have a CLEAN Kentucky DMV title and registration as I have owned this car for over 16 years. When I bought this car, I was looking for a future restoration project and knew the 1973 2.0L was the one to have for increasing value potential. At that time the engine started and ran on all cylinders, but roughly due to fuel control issues. I intended to rering the cylinders and have a valve job done, the bottom end sounded sound. The important thing was that the engine had never been molested, it retains all its original equipment along with that fabulous 2.0 Liter Fuel Injected factory original motor. I drained all the fuel, loosened the spark plugs and attached a jumper wire to the starter motor so that I could occasionally spin the motor.( This is the yellow wire seen near the trunk lid.) It has been stored indoors ( my basement & garage ) all these years, completely out of the weather..which is one reason the dash looks so good. I have gone from a big house with big garage to a one car condo garage, and I don't see the free time coming to finish my project, so Ebay Motors here I am. About the car: Because it has been kept out of the weather and has a clear title with matching numbers, this is a great restoration project car. Except for side lights, and the lower side trim covers, most of body is intact. There was damage to the left rear quarter panel when previous owner slid down driveway into tree root ball. This has resulted in rust and a crease fracture of the rear trunk floor. Crack can be seen in the trunk photo just along the rear edge of the trunk floor horizontal cross brace. This is aft of the transmission support mount. Impact also slightly bowed the rear fenders just above the rear tires and slightly compressed the left rear fender. Also visible in the pictures is rust on the rear of the Longitude support. On the driver side rear there is a clear hole (Use my size 13 foot in picture as a gauge.) On the Pass side of that rear Long is a patch, yes a "patch" made of sheet aluminum riveted to the Long beam, obviously not structural , an looks like an attempt to cover another hole. Both Longs are repairable with either replacement or repair kits that box weld over existing longs. I wanted to show all the bad , but this car is priced accordingly. Doors, Hood, Trunk lid are all crease free and have not been cut for speaker space. There is prior bondo work on the aft end of this car from the door gaps rearward. An issue for appearance sake, but not for drivability. Chrome bumpers have been painted over- ugly, and rubber topper(s) are wobbly. The glass is all intact with only wiper scratches on the windshield, door glass roll up and down, Main headlight lift motors and dual fog lights intact. The interior carpet, seats, side panels, etc are all in good shape and would only need replacement if you are going for a concurs look. The floor pan appears to be solid and complete. Dashboard is intact, no cracks, interior is dual movable seats. I have both seats. 5 matching rims, tires hold air but are dryrotted. Heater hoses and plumbing is missing and the clamshells over the exhaust manifolds are rotted away. The doors open and close with just a bit of sag on the passenger side. Door locks work ! Targa top is in great shape with functioning clasps. Originally Yellow, currently red, and in need of fresh paint. Disc brakes are intact, but have not been exercised in 16years. If this car is parted out, there is potentially over $6k in parts value, but I don't have the time and space, and wish for this car to have a chance to be driven again. If you have a particular question, or need a particular photo shot, please contact me and I'll provide it as quickly as I can. Car is rollable and steerable, but not drivable and therefore must be picked up by tow truck or car carrier. Buyer is responsible for arranging automotive transport.
