Vehicle Detail
1971 International Scout 800b. This is a 40 year old American classic, made out of steel, and is ready for a second chance. I have a clear title. The AMC 232 6 cyl engine starts and runs fair. The Borg Warner automatic transmission has some issues and should be replaced. The exhaust leaks a little at the flange, I think. The reverse is not working and the transmission slips. I have driven the Scout last summer, but very little as I did not want to make the issue with the trans worse. The battery and ignition system were replaced a few years ago and are in pretty good shape. A new fuel line was run from one of the fuel tanks, the original fuel lines were not working properly. The carb was rebuilt a few years ago, but has had little use. The electrical system and gauges need work. The lights are working, but the wiring is old. The body is rusty in spots like the floors (badly), around the tailgate, the corners, drip rails, etc. There is some filler on the driver's side, I do not know how extensive it is. The weather stripping all needs to be replaced. Most of the glass is okay and can be polished, but the windshield is cracked. The driver's side door window goes down, but not so much back up. I removed the complete brown carpet interior and the radio is no longer in the Scout. There is some angle iron welded in the tailgate. No front bumper. The Scout's 4-Wheel drive works. The tires on the Scout are 235-75-15 Coopers, but one is not. They all hold air. I have had the Scout for almost a year. I was going to rebuild it with my sons, but they are not interested, and we have not had time to do it either. So, it's got to go. I think I touched on most of the things that are wrong with it. So, what's left? It's a Scout, the engine runs, and it's cheap. If you have specific questions please ask.
