1974 PUCH 125 Enduro - 873 original miles since new. I've had this bike for about 10 years and bought it from an industry collector. It was a "must have" for me due to the condition. In that time, I've put approximately 10 miles on it. What it is: Absolutely unaltered original bike, never tampered with or disassembled.What it is not: Restored. I thought about putting new tank decals on it and touching up a few spots here and there but I just couldn't do it. Once a bike has been touched up, to me, it's no longer authentic and I love authentic bikes, flaws and all. Zero touching up on this bike, other than hand polishing the aluminum, which comes out awesome due to it's high quality.The good: Bike runs great and is 100.00% original. It's had virtually no use. It's also been indoors and in a dry climate so there is absolutely zero corrosion. All of the metal on this bike is flawless. It's never had tires changed, so the rims are mint. It has all kinds of cool things on it, like the leather side panels and leather number plates which also cover the carb to keep it clean. There are zerk fittings everywhere to lubricate things. It has a quick disconnect rear hub for quick ISDE tire changes, twin petcocks and too many cool engineering designs to list. Upper and lower triple clamps are the same part, which doesn't matter but is just cool. Factory hand painted red square around the VIN stamped into the frame. Every part is of the utmost quality - early '70's and Austrian made. Flawless original stickers on swingarm and frame. Cases are flawless, seat is flawless, pipe is flawless. Not much else to say. 873 miles.The bad: The tank paint is starting to fade on top and the decals on one side of the tank are checked. New decals would do wonders, but again, I just couldn't touch "original". A few rubber items, like the tail light flap and the speedo mounts are starting to crack. Paint peeling a little on the the chain guard. Small dent in skid plate. I've known the history of this bike for the past 15 years, but prior to that I don't. Based on what I can tell, it was probably ridden off road once when brand new. (I think this due to the small skid plate dent) From then on, it looks like it was ridden on the street a little to get the mileage up to about 860 miles. From about 860 to 873 was my friend whom I bought it from and myself. Everyone seems to think their bike is the only one like it in the world. I can't guarantee there isn't another PUCH 125 Enduro in this shape, but I can say that I've looked at them for 10 years on the internet and I've never seen one as nice as this unrestored. Restoring it would consist of painting the tank, applying new decals, painting the fiberglass chain guard, replacing a few rubber items and straightening the skid plate. I would NOT paint the frame, or do anything else but perhaps polish. There are no dings in the fork legs, cases, rims or anything like that requiring repair of any kind. Personally, I think restoration would be a mistake, but after it goes to it's new home it will no longer be my call. This is a museum bike, or a neighborhood cruiser.
